By now, you’ve probably donated a lot of new specimens to the Museum, and you should be close to unlocking a new Museum wing!
Art Gallery¶
For Blathers to even consider opening an art exhibition, you must have donated 60 different specimens to him. This shouldn’t be too hard at all, because there are ways to ensure you can find lots of new specimens everyday:

Dig up all of the fossils everyday! - Remember, four new fossils will spawn on your island each day.

Catch insects and bugs day AND night - Different species will appear at night and during the day. It’s important to catch specimens at all times of the day.

Cut down a tree - When you cut down a tree, you will leave behind a stump, which different bugs will begin to spawn on! These bugs can only be obtained from tree stumps, so it’s important to have at least one tree stump on your island. To cut down a tree, you’ll need to use an iron axe. To obtain the iron axe DIY recipe, you’ll need to buy the Pretty Good Tools Recipes from the Nookstop for 3,000 Nook miles. Hopefully, you’ll have already bought these tool recipes, since if you’re following this walkthrough, then today your Resident Services is closed for renovations.
