Shin Megami Tensei V

The Falcon's Head

By
Jarrod Garripoli

The Falcon’s Head is a Subquest in Shin Megami Tensei V. Most Subquests will reward you with a large amount of experience, some Macca, and then you’ll receive an item of sorts. Most of the time, it’ll be a Talisman which allows you to have access to the different Magatsuhi skills in the game.

Isis wants you to kill Horus and bring back its head

Recommended Level Location Rewards
46+ Isis; Southwest of Fairy Village Leyline Lady Talisman

Defeat Horus for Isis.

Where to start The Falcon’s Head

Despite picking up this quest in the Fairy Village, you will have to wait until after defeating Lahmu until it becomes available. In the southwestern portion of the Fairy Village, there is an Isis standing close to the buildings, who will give you the quest. She wants you to defeat Horus and bring its head to her.

You will find Isis in Fairy Village after defeating Lahmu

Where to find Horus for The Falcon’s Head

Horus is a Punishing Foe that can be found flying in the skies above the area of Akihabara and Sotokanda in Chiyoda. That means, while you could potentially log the quest upon entering Chiyoda, you will have to wait until you have done a good chunk of the region before you can find Horus. There is only one specific place in which you can actually trigger the battle with Horus. Start from the Akihabara Electric Town Leyline and drop down to the ground floor, where all the Orthrus are running around. From there, head northeast and pass the Naga Raja, then look for the set of climbing blocks to your southeast. Climb to the top and there will be a rooftop to your southeast, which was where you find Miman #139. Drop down into the pit on the northern side and follow the trail up to the cliffside, which is where Horus will stop periodically. It is here that you can begin the fight with Horus.

Recommended Party

Horus has a pretty high Agility stat, can buff its Accuracy/Evasion and also debuff yours. If you can control that in this battle, then you should be able to win easily, as you can have a lot of trouble connecting your attacks and will lose turns because of that. Horus is weak to both Force and Dark attacks, so that gives you a little leeway with your party, since you have access to two ways to gain extra turns during a round. Of course, one of the biggest problems with including demons with Dark attacks is that a lot of them might have a weakness to Light, which is something you do not want in this bout.

Three of the skills in Horus’ arsenal are Light-based and since a weakness opens up the possibility of an instakill, you want to avoid that. Of course, there’s a good number of demons level 46 and below that potentially learn Resist Light, allowing you to pass that on to someone else that can exploit the Dark weakness. Since you fight a boss weak to Dark just before opening up the area with Horus, you might already have a team built around that element. If you do not want to do the Dark-based skills, though, Horus being weak to Force also makes things a lot easier when building a team.

Kushinada-Hime is a great demon to include here, despite being a few levels higher than Horus, since she learns Mediarama for healing, and is also immune to Light; she will need Zanma to contribute any offense. Anubis also is immune to Light and has access to Mudoon, making him a great candidate to include, without having to do anything. The last choice is entirely up to you, although Black Frost can be a wonderful pick, despite needing Resist Light to cover his weakness. You also have the option to use Horus here, too, since it repels Light (it will damage the boss), although it will need access to Zanma.

(1 of 2) There will be a lot of buffing/debuffing of evasion in this battle

There will be a lot of buffing/debuffing of evasion in this battle (left), which can be detrimental in connecting with your attacks (right)

Debuffs/Dekaja/Dekunda can be key here in this battle, especially Masukukaja/Sukunda on your end. Tarunda and Rakunda can also be great to have, but the Accuracy/Evasion is more important than anything. Tarunda can also help a lot in reducing the damage from Rampage and Megido, with the latter not being resistable, due to it being Almighty damage. Thankfully, though, Horus has a fairly low Vitality stat, so your attacks will be dealing some good damage against it.

Once you have Horus’s Head, bring it back to Isis to finish the quest.
