Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Volcanic Hollow

By
Vincent Lau

Sunken Hollow is nice and all, but when you need an extra dose of flame, and when the volcano is ready to start working its regular 8 am – 5 pm shift (all the times before it appeared to be on holiday), the magma starts flowing and the cool water becomes burning fire. Bring Cool Drinks as they will magically protect you from the heat radiation. Much more desolate due to the intense heat, save for the areas farthest away from the pooling magma, most monsters that will emerge here are well-accustomed to fiery temperature and travel through the fire itself with nary a burn to be found.

Other Areas of Interest

Many areas of Volcanic Hollow, and the fringes of land closest to the lava pools, are burning hot, and stepping on them will drain your health as if you were poisoned. Try to avoid those areas, especially if you are low on health already, as being there too long can kill you if you aren’t paying attention. Occasionally, magma geysers will also spit through the ground, and can send you flying. They are annoying, so watch out for those too.

Area 3 still has Sootstone Ores, but of more importance is Area 9 , which as the all-important Powderstones that you will need to deliver for various quests. Area 9 is also where a lot of monsters will go to rest in Volcanic Hollow.

Area 10 is still Felyne Village.
