Welcome to Monster Hunter! Worried about the game tossing itself at you without any help? Well, unlike its previous incarnations, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate sports a very thorough tutorial that will form the bulk of the introduction and some of the lowest quest tiers, so don’t worry, this game will prepare you fairly well, and with this guide, you’ll be unstoppable in no time!

You’re going to start off with a gorgeous cutscene in the desert, on the dragonship . It’s a very important method of transportation across the desert, and has an arsenal of weapons for defending itself from any monsters who call the desert home.

Monsters, you say? After the man you’re traveling with, the Caravaneer , says his bit, he’ll ask you to look up. Using the D-pad, the right C-stick on your Circle Pad Pro, or the virtual D-pad on the touch screen, point your camera up as high as you can, and you’ll see some flying snakes. They’re called Remobra and they’re no good. They are often signs of much large monsters ahead…
