Black Gravios is a subspecies of Gravios clad in black hide that contains its enormous amounts of heat energy, which it likes to discharge as an enormous fire laser. Unlike Gravios, Black Gravios prefers using its fire laser over its melee attacks, which can prove to be a headache for anybody. It doesn’t help that Black Gravios’s hide is tough and you will bounce until you break off its armor.

Attacks

If you thought Gravios was bad, you haven’t seen Black Gravios. Black Gravios absolutely loves to spam its fire laser, and worse still, it has mastered the use of it and can do a variety of different sweeps. Thankfully, Black Gravios will only discharge fire steam after use of the standard straight-fire laser. All of its special variants cause no discharge, but are still incredibly dangerous. It doesn’t help that Black Gravios blends in easily in Volcanic Hollow.

Sweeping Laser: Left-Right: Black Gravios will fire a laser that sweeps from left to right (always left to right). It can be dodged with Evasion+1 but cannot be guarded unless you have Guard Up. Thankfully there is no fire discharge after this attack.

Sweeping Laser: Up-Down: This is Black Gravios’s most powerful laser, and also the most dangerous. Black Gravios will sweep the laser up and then directly down, moving backwards as it does so. This means if you are hitting its legs, having a merry old time, you will end up near Black Gravios’s face, an because the laser can sweep down so far that it becomes perpendicular with the ground, you can still get hit. Steer completely clear of this particular laser.
