Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Chameleos

By
Vincent Lau

Where the forest deepens and the trees blot out the sun, the Chameleos makes its home. Erratic, unpredictable, but oddly alluring and hypnotic, this Elder Dragon slowly makes its way across the forest floor, shifting ever so slightly between the border of darkness and light. Chameleos is, after all, the Elder Dragon of the Mist, the mysterious forest spirit, the not-so-friendly ghost of nature…

Area Start Roam Rest
Ancestral Steppe 4 2, 3, 6, 8 9
Primal Forest 3 4, 5, 6, 7 9

Attacks

Disorienting Charge: Chameleos will lope forward twice, with a small gap in between. It is hard to see coming, and may not even look all that threatening owing to its slow attack speed, but it will take a chunk out of your health if you are caught by it.

YOU THIEF YOU STOLE MY STUFF: Chameleos will stand in place and then flick out its long tongue from left to right. This has ridiculous range owing to its incredibly long tongue, and is guaranteed to steal a random edible item from your bag. Usually, Chameleos will go after your Mega Potions, Max Potions, Well-Done Steaks, and Lifepowders, making this attack all the more infuriating.

Dance of Shadows: Chameleos, when enraged, can switch rapidly between visibility and invisibility. This will allow it to warp throughout the stage and ambush you from behind using any of its other attacks. To combat this, break as many parts of Chameleos as possible. They will cause Chameleos’s silhouette to still be visible even when it attempts to turn invisible.

Tail Thump: Chameleos will look back at you and give one or two quick thumps with its large tail. It doesn’t do too much damage but it creates low wind pressure.

Venomous Retreat: Chameleos will step back rapidly and fling balls of poison forward as it does to prevent you from chasing it. It will do it twice when enraged.

Deadly Mist: Chameleos will take to the skies and in its wake leave behind a cloud of poison. The poison will stick around for 30 – 45 seconds, and will move dictated by how Chameleos flaps its wings to direct it. It will knock you on your butt and poison you, and particularly in G Rank, poison eats away at your health fast. Be careful of the poison cloud and bring your Herbal Medicines.

Cyclonic Poison Breath: Chameleos will let rip a jet of poison, and will stomp around and let it hit every possible area around it. It’s almost like Chameleos lost control of its poison breath.

Claw Swipe: A slow, lame claw swipe that does relatively low damage.

Breakable Parts

Horn: Horn is broken. It can only be broken when Chameleos has less than 30% of its health left; however, you can rack up break damage on the horn before then. Breaking it is a good indicator Chameleos is almost dead.

Wings: Tip of the wing arms will appear broken off and scarred

Tail: Tail can be severed and carved twice. The tail will need a lot of damage before it comes off. Be patient!

Weaknesses

Elemental: Fire, Dragon
