Keep following the path forward, fight any enemies you see until you reach the waypoint marker where Lightning will make another stylish entry. Hope will leave and Lightning will join so rearrange your Paradigms as required. Relentless Assault should suffice for the immediate future though you should set up a healing Paradigm just in case. You may also consider spending the sizeable amount of CP Lightning has collected.

Press ahead but keep an eye on the ambushes from Pulsework Soldiers and from the Incubus who jump down. Eventually you’ll reach a control panel that builds a handy staircase across a crevasse. Take the stairs, defeat the enemies and then look inside the container with the blue lights for a Treasure Sphere with a Librascope inside.

Librascope (left) and Ember Ring (right) locations.

There will be more enemy ambushes along the way as well as another treasure ( Ember Ring ) guarded by a trio of beasties. The ring should be equipped on your leader for the very next fight after which you should run all the way to the Save Point and then spend your CP in preparation. Approach the suspicious pile of junk and brace yourself for a boss fight.

Prepare the following paradigms for the next boss:

  • RAV/COM/RAV
  • SYN/COM/RAV (default)
  • RAV/RAV/MED
  • RAV/RAV/SAB
  • RAV/RAV/RAV

BOSS - Dreadnought

The Dreadnought is fought twice in quick succession, and the last paradigm you used in the first battle will be selected for the second fight.

Dreadnought Stats
Level / HP LV 62 / 17,940 HP
Strength / Magic 120 STR / 74 MAG
Stagger / Chain Res. / CP 200% / 80 Chain Resistance / 0 CP
Vulnerabilities Physical (Halves) / Magical (Halves)
Common Drop / Rare Drop None / None

The Dreadnought will start by swiping at your characters a few times. Be advised that more than one character may be hit. Begin with setup and manually control Sazh to cast Bravery on Lightning and Faith on himself and Vanille, while Vanille impairs the Dreadnought with both Deprotect and Deshell. If the Dreadnought turns on Lightning, it’ll likely miss her. After several swipes, the boss will shoot Wrecking Ball at one character - it hurts for about 300 damage. If the Dreadnought is impaired by status ailments, it may use Steam Clean to remove negative statuses. This gives you a few seconds of breathing room, where you can recast buffs, heal, or just keep attacking.

After Lightning hits the Dreadnought a few times to bring up its Chain Gauge, switch to setup or and keep blasting the boss until it’s staggered, at which point you’re home free. In case you find yourself in a pinch, toss a Potion (give Sazh Doctor’s Code if you wish) or switch to setup .

Game over? No.

This battle is almost the same as before, except for a slight change in attack pattern. It will gain the Flamethrower attack and retains both Wrecking Ball and Steam Clean. Flamethrower deals about 80 damage (twice!), and Wrecking Ball for 300 damage. If any character’s HP drops below 300 we would suggest you switch to setup to heal or toss Potions. Like in the previous battle, begin with setup and manually command Sazh for Bravery on Lightning, then Faith on himself and Vanille, while Vanille debuffs the giant machine. After Lightning hits it a few times to bring up its Chain Gauge, switch to setup or and keep blasting the mech until it’s staggered. You’ll likely need two Staggers to conquer Dreadnought.

Defeating the boss gives you the Lenora’s Garage Key Item which opens up a fourth shop at Save Points.

Check your characters’ Crystariums - Hope’s and Lightning’s have two new types of nodes. Those are Role nodes and Accessory nodes. The former increases the effectiveness of a character’s role (though costs a bit more), and the latter adds one more accessory slot to the character.

Six people, from very different backgrounds, get thrown together in a series of tumultuous events. A Pulse fal’Cie (a demi-god) has been found in the seaside town of Bodhum, a place where the fates of everyone converge and the discovery sets in motion a chain of events that will change the world forever. An innocent fireworks display in the town soon turns nasty when government soldiers storm the peaceful celebration and commit everyone to the Purge (sending individuals “contaminated” by the Pulse fal’Cie into exile). This is where your story and legend begins. Can you fight fate?
