Whittaker Farmstead

Follow the road east from Vault 19 to find the Whittaker Farmstead north of the road, near which a group of Powder Gangers lurks. Head into the ranch house to find some .357 Rounds and some Buffout on a table, along with a Note… a note which is identical to one found in Boulder City? Okay. In the kitchen you’ll find an issue of Future Weapons Today and plenty of food hidden in a Sunset Sarsaparilla Crate.

Hunters Farm

Continue east from here to find the Hunter’s Farm location, another ranch now occupied by Powder Gangers… if they weren’t killed by lurking Fire Geckos, anyways. Head inside the ranch (possibly after chasing off violent wild life) and loot the kitchen to find a Refrigerator, a Sunset Sarsaparilla Crate and a mess of Bottle Caps on a counter.

Junction 15 Railway Station

Two uninteresting farms, not much of a start, but at least they’re out of the way. If you want more challenging fare, along the cliffs south of these farms you’ll find Deathclaws aplenty. Not much in the way of loot, though, if you’re looking for that. South-east of Hunter’s Farm you’ll find the Junction 15 Railway Station which - being along the road north of Sloan - is predictably over-run by Deathclaws. Your reward for braving these beasts? On the landing outside of the station you can score some Bottle Caps, some Hydra, and loot some Suitcases. Yay…

Ant Mound

From the Junction 15 Railway Station head north, north-east across the wastes to find a ruined farm, which now hosts a new form of livestock; Fire Ants. Life isn’t all grand for these arthropods however, as Fiends now encroach on the ant’s territory. Kill both the buggies and the druggies, then search inside the barn to find and Ant Mound. Explore the loft to find a Tool Box, a Footlocker, an Ammo Box, a Grenade Box and two Metal Boxes, then descend into the Ant Mound.

Proceed through the tunnels until you reach a fork, at which point head west, as the south-eastern path is a dead-end. After you shortly reach another fork, take the southern path, go through a cavern, into another tunnel and down a slope to the east. In a chamber at the end of the tunnel you’ll find a Giant Ant Queen and at least one Fire And Soldier guard. Crush the bugs, then loot two Wastelanders in the chamber beyond, and some Ant Egg clutches and some Ant Refuse Piles.

Allied Technologies Offices

After you’re done pilfering the ant mound for useless junk, return to the surface and continue north to find the Allied Technologies Offices building. As you’re south of Camp McCarran’s walls, expect to find Fiends lurking about. Clear them out then note two buildings you can explore; the Allied Technologies Building to the west and the Abandoned Warehouse to the east. In said warehouses you can find some Wine and some Refrigerators, but nothing too interesting.

Into the Allied Technologies Offices it is, then. Kill the Giant Ants in the lobby, then loot a small table near some chairs to find an issue of True Police Stories. In the offices to the east you’ll find another bug to smite, some bottles of Sunset Sarsaparilla and a dose of Fixer. In the hallway north of the lobby lie more bugs to squash, and beyond a door to the west is a cafeteria in which another pair of Giant Ants await their demise. Indulge them, then loot the room to find a copy of Tales of a Junktown Jerky Vendor lying on the floor next to some bookshelves, just north of some vending machines. There’s also an issue of Tales of Chivalrie on the bottom shelf of the nearby bookshelf.

Aerotech Office Park

Leave the Allied Technologies Offices building and head south to find a road, which you should follow east to return to the site of the Cassidy Caravan Wreckage. From here head north, through a ruined fence, and along Camp McCarran’s eastern perimeter to find the Aerotech Office Building…. which is pretty much the only area along the eastern edge of New Vegas that hasn’t been explored yet. Circle around to the northern end of the complex and head inside.

Wandering around here you can find Bert Gunnarsson, a Ghoul who is working here as a doctor out of the kindness of his heart. More interestingly, you can find Captain Parker, who will tell you that Aerotech Office Park area is a refugee camp of sorts; those the strip treats too poorly tend to wind up here. Ask if you can help and he’ll tell you about some missing persons he’d like you to investigate, and point you towards Saint James in Westside. This starts the quest The Coyotes . He’ll also ask you to check out some guy named Keith, whom he suspects might not be doing his all to help the refugees here.

Exploring Westside is on the “to-do” list, but for now, let’s finish off this area. Head inside a nearby tent to find Frank Weathers, who has had a rather exceptional run of bad luck recently; his family was abducted by Caesar’s Legion near Searchlight. Honestly, given the condition of Searchlight, he’s lucky things didn’t end worse. Pass an [Intelligence 5] check and he’ll admit he’s a coward. Offer to help to start the quest Left My Heart , which will require you to travel to Cottonwood Cove. Soon. Soon. First, however, loot four First Aid Boxes on a metal shelf behind the beds, then grab three doses of Mentants nearby. It’s stealing, but… well, Karma is easy to come by.

Next explore the Aerotech Suite 300, in which you’ll find the survivors from Vault 34, if you rescued them during the quest Hard Luck Blues . They have nothing interesting to say, besides thanking you for rescuing them. Other than that, there’s plenty of minor loot to gather in here, including several desks that can be loot, food which can be harvested from a kitchen to the north-west, and in a bathroom behind a locked door [Easy] you’ll find a .357 Magnum Revolver and some .357 Magnum Rounds… apparently the suicide weapon of some poor soul whose skeleton now lies on the floor.

Across the lot to the east you’ll find Aerotech Suite 200, inside of which you’ll find Keith, who will offer to play Caravan with you. Despite his reputation as a cheat, he keeps his bets low, and isn’t a terribly cagey opponent. Succeed at a [Barter 45] and he’ll offer to supply you some with Jet for the… not so good price of 35 Caps. Pass a [Speech 60] check and he’ll reveal that he’s also a cheater at cards. Grab the Caravan Shotgun, some 20 Gauge Rounds and a dose of Fixer off a bookshelf to the north. Beyond it, in the room to the north you’ll find a dose of Fixer and two inhalers of Jet on some desks. Backtrack to the main room and go through a doorway to the east to reach a hallway and enter the western-most room to the south, where you’ll find a desk containing a fine collection of cards, including some Marked Cards.

Return to Captain Parker outside and rat out Keith, who will reward you and ask if you want to help apprehend Keith, with the promise of extra reward if you do. Humor him and you’ll find out that… well, Keith probably should have been more afraid of Captain Parker than Captain Parker was of Keith. Crazy ass NCR officer… but at least he rewards you extra for the job, and you can help yourself to Keith’s belongings. He won’t be needing them anymore.

Objective Reward
For providing incriminating evidence to Captain Parker 150 XP 150 Caps
For attending Captain Parker on his encounter with Keith 75 XP 100 Caps
