This page will relay information about The Countess, a Super Unique enemy in Diablo 2 Resurrected, especially concerning information about farming her for runes.
The Countess can be found in the Forgotten Tower Level 5, a side dungeon in the Black Marsh area in Act 1. Farming her can be a chore, given the amount of leg-work it takes to reach her, but it’s arguably worthwhile - especially for new players on Normal and Nightmare difficulty, as she’s almost guaranteed to drop 1-3 runes every time you kill her. She is immune to both cold and fire damage on Hell difficulty, making it difficult for the Sorceress to reach her unless they’re lightning-focused. That said, a decent mercenary can always poke her to death, if need be.
Below you’ll find a table of The Countess’s stats by difficulty:
Boss | mLv | Life | Resistances (Fire/Cold/Light/Psn/Phys) |
---|---|---|---|
The Countess (Normal) | 11 | 96 - 161 | 75 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 |
The Countess (Nightmare) | 45 | 1,497 - 2,496 | 75 / 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 |
The Countess (Hell) | 82 | 7,004 - 11,674 | 108 / 130 / 33 / 20 / 20 |
Aside from casting Fire Wall at the doors when you approach, The Countess’s attacks vary based on what random modifiers she - as a Super Unique monster - possesses. These vary every game, but she’s always Fire Enchanted, which, along with her base creature type (Dark Stalker) accounts for her immunities.
While her Monster Level (mLv) allows her to drop some interesting sets and unique items (at least in Hell difficulty) she’s primarily farmed for her penchant for dropping runes, usually 1-3 per run. In Normal difficulty she can drop up to a Ral rune, in Nightmare, a Ko rune and in Hell a Lo rune. In Normal and Nightmare difficulties her rune drops suffice to get you the runes necessary to create many great beginner runewords, like Stealth, Lore, Insight and Spirit, among others (check out the Best Beginner Runewords page for more ideas of what’s possible).
Correct her resistances on Hell, fire should be 75 (same as Normal).
Do you mean Nightmare?
