Trang-Oul’s Scales might not be the absolute best armor you can put on a Necromancer, but it’s a fine suit of mid-tier armor that’ll compete well with Skin of the Vipermagi and perhaps keep you sated until you can create superior runewords. Summon Necromancers in particular will benefit from this armor, as it imparts +2 Summoning Skills. The Poison Resist +40% and +40% Faster Run/Walk aren’t bad boons, either, and the reduced requirements on this armor keep its Strength requirement manageable. With three Trang-Oul’s Avatars set items, this armor will gain Lightning Resistance +50%, and with a full set it’ll impart Damage Reduction 25%.

While this armor has a relatively low iLv of 32, its base item - Chaos Armor - is exceptional Full Plate Armor, which means you probably won’t see it drop until the middle of Nightmare difficulty… It shouldn’t be too hard to get from Nightmare Mephisto.
