Most set and unique gloves are sought after for a single modifier or two, and Dracul’s Grasp is no different. In this case, Dracul’s Grasp technically has two, and while the Life Leech is swell, it’s the “5% Chance to cast level 10 Life Tap on striking” that makes this an interest option. Life Tap functions much like leech, save it absorbs a full 50% of the damage dealt, which is probably significantly higher than the total life leech you could otherwise cobble together on various items. While a 5% chance to proc isn’t very high, for a character who strikes fast - say a [Smite Paladin] wielding a Grief Phase Blade - 5% is plenty to guarantee Life Tap activating in a few seconds, tops. A sLv10 Life Tap will last over 30 seconds, giving you plenty of time to make us of it, and likely continue proccing it.
All in all, it’s a niche item that is nonetheless very, very useful for a [Smite Paladin], who will find it essential for staying alive while facing some of the most dangerous foes in the game.
Dracul’s Grasp has a very high iLv of 84, ensuring you won’t see it until Hell difficulty. Fortunately, the base item (Vampirebone Gloves) can be dropped by Hell Mephisto, which makes these items relatively easy to obtain. Enough Hell Mephisto runs and you’ll get them.
