Shaftstop is a humble suit of armor with one redeeming property: Damage Reduced by 30%. It’s a massive reduction in the amount of physical damage a character will sustain, making this armor well worth considering if you’re inclined to enter physical combat… and your resistances are up to snuff from other sources. It’s not ideal endgame armor, by any means, but with the right character, against the right foes, in lieu of better options, it can shine. It also makes for fine mercenary armor.

While this is midtier gear by every definition, it’s also somewhat uncommon compared to, say, Duriel’s Shell. As with most midtier gear, Nightmare Mephisto can be farmed for Shaftstop.
