Dead Island 2

Trophy/Achievement Roadmap

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Dead Island 2 isn’t a really challenging game, outside of getting used to the combat and adjusting to the in-game mechanics. As a result, none of the trophies/achievements are going to set you back a lot of time, in order to unlock them. It’s important to remember that the game doesn’t feature any missables, in unlocking trophies/achievements, so you are free to play at your own pace. There’s also no difficulty options, nor anything related to characters, so you can pick whomever you want at the beginning.

Step 1 - Play Through the Story

The first thing you should do is play through the main story and try to finish that first. As mentioned above, there’s no missables in the game, in terms of trophies/achievements, so it’s a good idea to power through it. While going through the main campaign, you will want to keep a few things in mind. First, you will want to not worry too much about sticking to a single weapon, as you will outlevel them quite often and it’s a bit expensive to bring them to your level. The weapons you find will scale up to your level, so the "Disaster Relief" iconDisaster Relief Crates and chests behind "Fusebox" iconFuseboxes can be left alone, if you want, to guarantee better weapons once you’re at higher levels.

Playing through the story first is the best way to start your trophy/achievement journey

Second, you will want to have a variety of weapon types and elemental affinities on your weapons, as this helps you complete the various Challenges. One of the trophies/achievements requires you to complete the first level of every Challenge, which is why it’s important to keep tabs on them as you play through the game, in order to reduce the time needed later on, when you’ve finished just about everything else.

The last thing you want to keep in mind is doing the Side Quests along the way. Including the Lost and Found quests and other Side Quests, there’s a total of 48 of them in the game and you only need to do 40 of them, so you won’t necessarily have to complete them all. Once again, doing these can help you level up, get more weapons, and make the main story a little more manageable.

Step 2 - Complete 40 Side Quests and Lost and Found Quests

After completing the main story, you can then concentrate on working on the Side Quests and Lost and Found quests. As mentioned above, there’s a total of 48 of these in the game, across both categories, and you only need to do 40 of them to unlock all of their related trophies/achievements. It’s important to remember that there are trophies/achievements related to some of them, so you won’t be able to just do any of them. Note that you need to do five quests in co-op (main story and side ones count) for a single trophy/achievement.

The Body Art line of quests is necessary for a trophy/achievement

You will need to do the following Side Quests/Lost and Found quests for other trophies/achievements:

So, looking at the above list, you will need to do a total of 27 side quests to get other trophies/achievements, leaving only 13 miscellaneous ones left to do for the total of 40.

Step 3 - Challenges and Cleaning Up

The final step towards getting all of the trophies/achievements will require you to work on finishing the first step of every Challenge in the game. It’s important to note that while you can see all/most of the Challenges from the beginning of the game, not all of them will be tracked from the start. So, if you think something is buggy, then just keep playing the game and the Challenges will eventually unlock. There’s six different categories for Challenges, with there being a total of 84 Challenges across all of those categories. A lot of them have multiple tiers, but you only need to complete the first one to contribute towards the trophy/achievement progress.

Completing challenges is a great way of getting a large amount of money throughout your playthrough.

While working on these Challenges, you can clean up any other miscellaneous trophies/achievements. For example, there’s unlocking 10 Lockboxes (you only need five for a Challenge), reaching level 30, and much more. You are likely to get some of these as you play through the game, but the others you can focus on them as you’re doing the Challenges.
