Wondering how to get your hands on the Dead Island 2 Fancy Leather Trunk Key. This is another one of those really end-game keys you need to get, which will award you with some impressive loot: the Tenacious Blueprint, a nice Autophage perk that grants a moderate damage boost and uses less stamina when you are low on health.

Dead Island 2 Fancy Leather Trunk Key Location¶

Okay, the main thing you need to know is that the key only becomes accessible once you have completed the Search for the Truth main story mission. The reason for this is that the the creature you need to kill is a Mutator, and so, will only spawn once you have encountered your first Mutator in the main storyline.

Once you have completed that story mission, you can now return to the Hotel Halperin level. Once there, you need to climb to the top floor. The easiest way to do that is to do the elevator shaft parkour, which will allow you to access the top floor easily. The electricity may be turned on, so, destroy the power box in the fast travel room, which should make your life easier to climb the elevators from that fast travel point.

Once you reach the top floor, you’re looking for a mutator somewhere on the floor. It can wander around any of the bedrooms and all other corridors, so, you may need to make a little noise with some explosive curve balls or shoot your gun. Either way, the Mutated Guest will turn up.

Defeat the Mutator, ideally using your Fury, ranged weapons, and some of your character-preferred killing methods. Once it is dead, you can get the Fancy Leather Trunk Keys from its corpse. Now, you can head back to the elevator on the top floor, and find the leather trunk opposite the elevator doors. Grab yourself the Tenacious weapon perk, and go into battle knowing you’re a little sturdier than you were earlier!
