There are plenty of mysteries in a city with a zombie outbreak, many of which you won’t be able to solve until later in the game. In the first few hours of gameplay, you will probably run into a Skope Device sitting in a lofty house. For most of the game, these devices won’t be anything but set dressing. What Are Skope Devices in Dead Island 2¶

Skope Devices are essentially smart assistance in the world of Dead Island. In the lore of the game, they work in much the same way as Amazon Alexa or Google Home. You won’t be able to interact with them until you are near the end of the game when you turn the Skope servers back online during The Search for Truth main quest. After you turn them online, every unit will activate.

How to Use Skope Devices in Dead Island 2¶

Once the servers are online, you can go to the various locations that have Skope devices in the game and speak to them. Each one will give you a small bit of dialogue that gives a backstory about the zombie outbreak. In order to complete the lore, you will need to find them all. They are located in every area of the game, and most of them you will need to walk to find, like the one placed in a trailer inside of Monarch Studios. There is no achievement or special unlockable for finding them all. They are simply there for those who want more lore. The completed log does count towards the Bookworm achievement.
