Sarapeion¶
To start this quest you’ll need to head to the Sarapeion, which is southwest of the Great Library. The area is actually fairly busy on the map, including a fast travel point and a location objective, both of which you may as well take care of now. The former should need no instruction, but the latter… well, it’s easy enough. Simply enter a building on the southwestern end of the complex and nab the Papyrus Puzzle scrolls “The Stone Gaze” off a table.

The Drummers Plight¶
You can actually hunt down the puzzle’s solution later, but for now, you might as well clear the nearby quest. Enter the large temple structure to the east and interact with the massive statue inside, only to have your prayers interrupted again (Bayek seems to have bad luck with this) by a priest, who naturally can’t help but complain about his own problems. Seems a drummer was unjustly jailed by the Phylakitai after an accusation of theft, and since Bayek is no friend of the Phylakitai… well, why not help the priest out to the detriment of your foes?
Kibotos Arsenal¶
Leave the Sarapeion grounds and head north until you find a search area, at which deploy Senu and scan for the incarcerated drummer, who is being held in the Kibotos Arsenal outpost. The good news is that you can easily get a good vantage on the place by sneaking your way north atop the southern wall that encloses the place, which looks down into the fort below. The alarm beacon is also fairly accessible, as it can be found over the fort’s eastern gate.
There’s more potentially bad news than good news, however, as the place is crawling with guards (levels 8-9) led by a captain (level 10) and the whole operations is overseen by a commander (level 11). The guards also regularly man the walls, instead of largely being content with sitting around within the walls, meaning you’ll need to be cautious as you scale them. That’s not to say there are no guards in the fort itself - there are quite a number of them that’ll be in the various towers, guard posts and barracks at any given time.
That’s not all that’s new, however, as the location objectives are expanded from what you’re used to, as well. Now you must loot two treasure chests, kill the captain and a commander. Commanders are just another obstacle you should start expecting in higher-level forts, and they themselves are just higher-level captains who can be killed just as easily by a crafty assassin… especially one who diligently upgraded their hidden blade. Plus there’s a chance for them to drop legendary gear, so it’s not all bad.
First, of course, you should disable the alarm brazier, which should be simple enough. After that, you’re not short of options. The most obvious approaches are to simply snipe every foe who has the poor fortunate to be alone, but takedowns from above or simply using speed and numerous walls allows for easy takedowns as well. If you want to be more crafty and perhaps make progress towards the BOOM! trophy/achievement, you can also go about lighting your arrows on fire and shooting the various oil pots lying about. To light an arrow on fire - assuming, of course, that you don’t have access to a bow with the “On Fire” property - just draw a bow (hold [L2] or [LT], preferrably not a Predator Bow) and move the head of the arrow over one of the many braziers along the wall to light it on fire. You don’t need pin-point accuracy or range, any arrow from any bow fired at the red oil-bearing urns should be sufficent to cause a fire. Light your arrow on fire, wait for a guard (or guards) to be close, shoot the urns, then quickly get in cover and move to a different location to avoid detection.
There’s also a ballista on the roof of the barracks, an important structure on the southern end of the camp. Give the amount of cover in the area, and the fact that enemies can easily drop down behind you from higher ground, the ballista itself is of dubious merit. Both of the chests you need to loot are nearby, however, including a large red chest just west of the ballista. Once you’ve looted that, be sure to head east of the ballista to find a trap door leading down in the barracks. Drop down and turn south to find a small white chest on a table.

Eliminate all the guards, steal their treasure, then go free the Drummer from his cage to discover another fine reason why you needed to complete the area; he’s got an injured foot, so you’ll need to carry him out of the fort. Do so and when he’s clear of danger set him down and talk to him, and he’ll ask you to clear his name by apprehending the bandits who really stole the hide in question. And by “apprehend”, of course, in this case, means “kill”.
Its Tough Being an Egyptian in Alexandria¶
Make your way south until you reach the search area, which is largely west of the Sarapeion. When you get close, take flight with Senu and mark their location - they should be near the blacksmith and the weaver - then head on over there. Your primary objective is to kill the bandit leader (level 10), but he’ll likely be accompanied by at least two more bandits (levels 9-10), and there could well be a second trio out there, as well. Use whatever means at your disposal to eliminate the bandit leader to claim a horrible maimed hide. Poor lion. Once it’s yours, return to the Sarapeion to find the tanner yelling all manner of accusations and abuse at the priest and his drummer. Intervene to end the quest, after which you should note that a new quest “ A Tithe By Any Other Name “ will pop up at the Sarapeion.
