Assassin's Creed: Origins

Taking Liberty

By
Nathan Garvin

Suggested Level: 33

You can start this quest by reading a letter on a table in the caves of the Necropolis Hideout, northwest of the Aquaductus Kyrenaike point of interest. Ideally you would have picked this up during the quest “ The Good Roman “, saving you the trouble of running back there later. However you have to do it, the note was being carried by an unfortunate messanger who fell afoul of the bandits, sent by a worker named Hapti to his wife. Bayek is sympathetic to Hapti’s plight, as he, too, is suffering under the Roman yoke. Why not go see if you can aid the man?

Make your way southwest of the Aquaductus Kyrenaike to find two points of interest - the Roman Camp of Surus and the Roman Quarry Camp. Since the former contains a powerful war elephant, you should avoid it and focus on the Roman Quarry Camp, instead. When you get close, deploy Senu to locate Hapti, who is in some worked stone caves to the west of the camp. Find him and Bayek will swear to find Hapti’s bracelet and give it to his wife, which is, unfortunately, the most aid Bayek can provide now.

Roman Quarry Camp

Send Senu aloft again and scan the Roman Quarry Camp to locate the soldier who has Hapti’s bracelet, mark enemy locations, especially that of the captain (level 34) and the treasure you’ll need to plunder in the camp. There are arguably two good spots from which to approach the camp. Near a watch tower in the northeastern corner of the camp you’ll find enough foliage to sneak in, and another patch of foliage near a gate and a tent to the west from which you can probably lure a few soldiers to their doom with whistles. Failing that, you can climb across some cut rocks to reach some tents along the southwestern edge of camp, where you’ll find more tall grass to hide in near two tents. It might not be as good of a spot from which to kill enemies, but it is near the guard tower with the alarm brazier, which is southeast of the camp’s western gate. However you manage it, kill the soldier that possesses Hapti’s Wedding Bracelet to recover it, then head up some stairs north of the camp’s western gate to find a tent, in which is a large red chest.

Reward: For completing the Roman Quarry Camp
600 XP

Once the camp is clear and you have Hapti’s Wedding Bracelet, make your way southeast past the Roman Camp of Surus to reach the honey farm Hapti will never return to. Find his wife, Merope, who… well, is thankful, but understandably not entirely happy with how things turned out.

Reward: For completing the quest “Taking Liberty”
2,250 XP

The year is 48 BCE, and both Rome and Ptolemaic Egypt are torn by civil wars. In the chaos caused by this political upheaval, a shadowy conspiracy seeks the mysteries buried under the sands of Egypt, not sparing any who stand in the way of their ambitions. One such aggrieved individual, Bayek, a Medjay from Siwa, now seeks revenge against this secret organization. Ultimately going back to the origins of the Assassin’s Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed Origins is a rebirth of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, adding a vast open world, a revamped combat system and RPG elements to the prolific stealth-action series.
