No Rest for the Wicked

Nith Leviathan Boss Fight

By
Scott Peers

The Nith Leviathan is a boss that you can access when you return to the area where you first fought Darak, located southwest of Sacrament. You may have to wait a few days before the boss will appear, and some players have reported that you need to progress the story before it will spawn. Either way, so long as you keep returning to the area, which you’ll want to do as you grind enemies to level up, you should eventually find the boss there. On this page, we’ll provide a brief guide for how to defeat the Nith Leviathan in No Rest for the Wicked.

Nith Leviathan Location

To find the Lith Leviathan boss, you need to return to the site where you first fought Darak, located southwest of Sacrament in the Orban Glades. As noted above, the boss may not spawn until after you’ve waited a few days since defeating Darak, or you may need to progress the story more by continuing the Servant of God quest. Whatever the case may be for you, if you need to check whether the boss has respawned, you can see the exact location in the screenshot below.

Nith Leviathan Guide

The Nith Leviathan boss shares some characteristics with the Riven Twins boss, mostly in that it’s a tall creature with a weapon that has a particularly long reach. You’ll need to be ready to avoid a series of sweeping attacks which are best dealt with by dodging or rolling through the attack, but also some that you can only avoid by running away from the boss, due to the speed of the strikes being too great to avoid.

Slam and Sweep Attacks

There are two basic attacks that the Nith Leviathan will use frequently, especially at the start of the fight. These consist of a simple slam on the ground, and a sweeping cut that extends for most of the area that you have access to. The best way to avoid these is by rolling into them, which will also get you closer to the boss where you can execute a few attacks of your own.

Slam Spam

In addition to the basic slam attack shown above, the boss can also chain this in a way that follows your movements, slamming the ground up to four times, which can easily kill you if you’re hit by each attack. You won’t have enough time to avoid this by dodging or rolling, since the attack is so fast that you can’t execute the next roll before it hits, so you’ll need to be ready for this attack and run in the opposite direction from the boss to avoid it by waiting it out.

Chain Sweeping Attack

Unlike with Darak, there’s only one attack sequence that the Nith Leviathan performs which leaves it exposed while it recovers for a couple of seconds. This is a chained sweeping attack which you’ll see the boss use multiple times throughout the fight, and you’ll have the best opportunity to hit the boss without fear of retaliation at the end of it. All you need to do is dodge each attack, which are slow enough to do easily in this case, so that you can remain close enough to the boss to capitalize on your own attacks while it recovers.

(1 of 2) The boss will move in your direction if you try to run away from the chain attack, so it’s best to dodgeroll into them.

Grab Attack

The only other main attack that you need to watch out for from the Nith Leviathan is a grab attack. This will only happen if you get too close to the boss and stay there for too long, so you need to make sure that you keep moving around it by dodge/rolling whenever you’re in close proximity. The grab attack is almost always fatal, as the boss will pick your character up, slam them on the ground repeatedly, and then throw them off the edge of the cliff. There’s no recovering from this, so it’s essential that you avoid the attack at all costs.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much of an animation that signifies when the boss is about to use the grab attack, so you won’t be able to adjust to it to avoid it every time. Instead, all you have to do is remember to avoid remaining within melee range for too long, or if you do, be ready to dodge and roll frequently to force the boss to use its other attacks.
