Upon finishing No Rest For The Wicked’s tutorial, some of the first items you will find are tools. These are incredibly valuable on your journey through the game as they allow you to find resources and materials.

You won’t have to worry too much about doing this for the first boss or two, as you progress further into the game, you will want to gather what you can as you explore. Specifically, the Fishing Rod is a vital item to equip as you can catch fish which you can then use at fire pits to craft healing items - all of which are one-time use. Here is where you can get your fishing rod.

Fishing Rod Locations¶

A fishing rod is found in chests or sitting in the environment in the first area: The Shallows. You can also buy it from Fillmore in the Mess Hall, which is also in The Shallows. He will head to Sacrament alongside you if you are on your way there. So, chances are he might be gone by when you get there.

However, you should have a fishing rod by then. Loot is randomized in No Rest For The Wicked so where you find a fishing rod might not be in the same place we found ours. One will be sitting in The Shallows though.

A fishing rod is one of four tools you will need in the game to be able to gather materials. When it comes to using the rod, you can head to any pool or body of water and start fishing when prompted. You can catch one fish in each body/area.

After a while, the fish will respawn and you can catch some more, by either letting time pass or visiting a different area and returning.

Any body of water should allow you to fish when standing near it.
