You can’t purchase the DLC from the eShop; you have to do it within the game itself.

Once you’ve bought your ticket to Origin Island, you can’t visit the fabled island straightaway. (It’s a bit shy, you see.)

However, you’ll know you’re on the right track when you receive a Letter from Gladstone inviting you to his home up on Mt. Snowpeak (separate from his letter inviting you to raid King Erik’s treasure chest), plus a Letter from Pam about an exchange clerk.

Lunares Exchange Clerk

Since Pam’s house is closest, let’s visit her first and see what the fuss is. As Pam vividly described in her letter, an Exchange Clerk has set up counter in her house, but she won’t do anything except sleep.

Upon reading the memo on the desk, it turns out you’ve come to the counter way too early and you need to come back after… doing… something.

As it happens, this “something” is completing the entire Origin Island story, so you can just ignore her for a long time. Don’t worry, we’ll remind you to visit her again when the time is right.

Tea Time with Royalty

If you’ve forgotten how to get to Gladstone’s house, take an airship from Falcon’s Garage in South Castele to Mt. Snowpeak, then ascend the rocky mountain path until you reach a resting spot. Around there, towards the north, is the Crowned Champion’s House where Gladstone lives.

Gladstone is as nosy as ever, asking about your Life progress and suggesting the existence of a Life rank above Legend. If you stick around long enough, you’ll probably find out what that rank is… (spoiler: it’s God rank or Creator rank, depending on your version of the game.)

It’s not all idle gossip though, as Gladstone rewards you with an Ancient Dagger , the likes of which you’ve never seen before.

You’d be surprised to know Queen Ophelia is one of the best physical attackers in the game.

Additionally, Queen Ophelia won’t let her husband and daughter hog all the fun and allows you to invite her into your party. If you want to add her (and you should because she’s insanely strong), you can find her in the Castele Castle gardens.

The game will also inform you about the Friendship system, newly added after installing the Origin Island pack. Basically if you keep your party members around, their Friendship levels will improve, making them stronger and more responsive during battles.

How to Proceed Next

This next part stumps a few players. Do you remember the criteria to unlock Origin Island within the game?

If you followed our guide up to now, you should’ve achieved the first two criteria at the very least. The other two criteria–the Level-dependant ones–will depend on how (and how much) you’ve played the game.

As a general rule of thumb, the easiest and most fun way to Level Up is to simply focus on increasing your Life ranks. For example, if you’re going to mow down monsters for experience, you may as well do it within the context of a Life, say, slaying dragons to rank up the Paladin Life.

Although it’s easy to want to push ahead with the shiny new Origin Island content, don’t forget there’s a great wealth of content already available to you!
