Tips

At the beginning, Expert Mercenaries won’t have a particularly difficult time, besides being in danger of pricking their fingers because of all the cactus they have to slay.

Drysand Desert is difficult to miss, but Cacto Cove is slightly off the beaten track. To reach this cactus paradise, speak to the ferryman at the south end of the Al Maajik Outskirts.

You can find Melusine, a Mercenary colleague, living at Cacto Cove.

Upon arrival, if you’re unlucky you might not find a single Flowering Cacto ; these pink Cactos appear rarely amongst normal Cacto. What you can do is repeatedly enter and exit the nearby Cave of Shadows to try and make them spawn.

After (hopefully) perfecting the Hurricane technique, you must now hone your newly acquired Tornado Shot . This move requires pressing the A button towards the end of the Cross-Cut animation. You can tell you’re successful when the tornado moves away from you, not you moving away.

The bosses honestly could be worse. The Killer Bear should be a piece of cake, while the Desert Tyrant is only a bit difficult. By now, it’s likely you can invite Odin to your party, so definitely drag him along plus one other ally.

Assuming you fought the Silverfang as an Adept, the Desert Tyrant fights in a similar manner. So if you can take a hit or two, it’s probably best to stay close to the Desert Tyrant, to avoid its bite and fire breath.

Just beware of the Desert Tyrant’s tail swipe, as the Desert Tyrant may use it to knock you back, before blasting you with its fire breath. Instead of running back to escape the fire, try running back towards the tyrant instead.

If anything, it’s the battle area that’s really annoying, as you’re forced to fight the Desert Tyrant in a small space right next to an entrance to another zone.

However you can also use the tight space to your advantage, by trapping the Desert Tyrant into a corner, making it a delightful punching bag.
