There are some dungeons in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake that can be a little confusing to get through, let alone get all of the treasure within. The Lighthouse is a place you will likely visit first whenever you get told to hunt down the five Sigils. The Lighthouse is home to one of the Sigils, the Star Sigil, but you’ll have to go through different paths to get everything in this dungeon. You’ll find the Lighthouse on an island in the waters south of the Dragonlord’s Castle. This page will focus on how to get through the Lighthouse, while getting every single treasure.

Lighthouse - 1F Treasures¶

When you first enter the Lighthouse and go to the 1F, you will see that the place looks like a maze of sorts. There’s nothing to the left, so start off by going right and north, stopping at the first opening on your left. Head down to the dead end along this path to find a chest with the Cower Ring. You may be tempted to put this on, due to the boost in Agility, but this piece of equipment is cursed. If you put it on someone, you won’t be able to remove it unless you visit a church. Continue north until you reach the first gap along the northern end, where you want to ignore it and go to the dead end just to the west, for a pot that has a Seed of Agility.

Head to that northernmost path now and head west a little bit, to the opening not too far from the northwest corner. Pass through that gap, then the next one just south, to find a chest with a Scale Shield. The dead end just west of this one has two pots, which will have some Medicinal Herbs and 137 Gold in them. There’s not much left on this floor, so make your way to the southwestern corner and find the dead end just north of the entrance, where there’s a pot with a Tangleweb. Find your way towards the middle room now, but go just north of the northeastern stairs for one final chest (539 Gold).

In the central room, you’ll find four sets of stairs, which will lead to different sections of the next floor. Before doing anything, though, check the circles on either side of the central structure for some items (Holy Water (x3) and Musk). Take the northwestern stairs now to 2F.

Lighthouse - 2F Treasures¶

When you first get to this floor, head west to find two pots in the one corner, which contain a Strong Medicine and a Necklace of Immunity. From there, return to the stairs and go north, east a little bit and then south to find a chest with a Fizzle-Retardant Blouse. You can then head south through the passage just east of there to the dead end, where there’s another chest with a Wizard’s Staff. With that loot out of the way, make your way to the northwestern corner and use the stairs to get to the third floor.

Lighthouse - 3F Treasures¶

Coming from the stairs in the NW corner of the second floor, head south to find two chests in the corner here, which contain an Angel Bell and 1,030 Gold. Return to the previous floor and take the stairs in the northeastern corner, to reach a lone chest that is actually a Cannibox! Defeat it, back to 2F and climb either of the two sets of stairs just south, along the eastern side, to the third floor again. Once back here, go into the central room to find another Cannibox in the chest, as well as a Seed of Luck and 644 Gold in the two pots just east of it.

Just south of the two sets of stairs you used to reach this floor, there will be four of those structures. Check the ground in the middle of those four structures to find a Silver Tiara. That’s all you can get on this path, so double back all the way to the first floor (avoid using Evac here, since it requires a long run back). In the central room on the first floor, take the stairs to the southeast this time, then keep going to the third floor. Look for a pot in the NE corner here for a Magic Water, then continue to the fourth floor.

Lighthouse - 4F and 5F Treasures¶

On the fourth floor now, go into the southwest corner for a barrel that has a Strong Medicine, then look for the chest on the northern end of the room, which is another Cannibox. There’s nothing else here, so continue up to the fifth floor, where a lone chest is waiting for you that contains a Multislice Scroll. That wraps up this path, so double back all the way to the first floor and head up the stairs in the southwest in the middle room. On the second floor, you can find some barrels with items (Chimaera Wing and some Moonwort Bulbs) just west of the stairs to the third floor.

There will be a quick scene here, so watch it then head to the northern end to find pots on either side of the little monument thing there (Care Riviere and Torc of Truth). Take the stairs not too far from the pots here in the northern end, which will bring you to a round room with some spiral stairs. Nothing on the fourth floor, but on the fifth, check the center of the room for a hidden Seed of Magic. Naturally, since you’re already here, it’s time to continue ascending this tower, so make your way to the sixth floor.

Lighthouse - 6F and 7F Treasures¶

You won’t find anything on the sixth floor in this section, so immediately head for the seventh (top) floor. Up here, check the pot at the north end for some Tanglewebs, then look in the barrels to the right for a Magic Water and Seed of Agility. Descend back to the third floor and use the only other set of stairs that go up to the fourth floor here. There will be a chest a little to the southeast that contains some Magic Waters, so grab them and take the stairs all the way in the northeast for a dead end on the fifth floor and 265 Gold in a pot.

Back on the 4F, the stairs in the southwest corner will go up to 5F, then you can go east for more stairs to 6F. In this room, the northwest corner has a Cannibox disguised as a chest, so beat it up and head to the northern end for stairs back down to 5F. There will be two chests at the end here, containing a Thief’s Turban and Assassin’s Dagger. You’re getting close to done with this dungeon at this point, so double back to 4F and go all the way to the northwest corner (don’t fall off) for the stairs there. At this point, the path is linear (only one way to go on each floor) up to 7F.

Follow the path here for another scene with the guardian, then walk in between the two monuments until you see the button prompt. This will net you a Mini Medal, so make sure you grab it. Of the two staircases in the southwest corner, use the eastern one first for a small room that has two pots, which contain some Dazzle-Me-Nots and 169 Gold. Go back up and follow the other staircase all the way back down to 2F. You’ll face a boss here, the Nekomancer (watch out for the Thwack spell), and after defeating them, you will be able to get the Star Sigil.

It’s always a good idea to go through each floor and use Nose for Treasure to see if you missed anything, but if you’re following this guide, then that isn’t a problem!
