If you’re an avid achievement/trophy hunter, some snooping might have revealed the “Master Crafter” achievement/trophy, which requires you to “make all craftable items”. This isn’t difficult, but it is surprisingly obtuse to the point where we all managed to miss crafting on our first playthrough. To spare yourself the hassle and bother of finding out how to crafting items in Dragon Quest 1: HD-2D Remake, this page will cover how it’s done and hopefully make it easier for you to unlock the aforementioned “Master Crafter” achievement/trophy!

Page Breakdown

(1 of 3) To craft items, seek out the Craft-Master at the Faerie Village after creating all five Sigils,

How to Craft Items

As you explore Alefgard, you will find various “Important Items” that serve no obviously purpose, although if you Peep them you’ll be informed that they’re “used as an ingredient in crafting”. These items include "Frazzled Feathers" iconFrazzled Feathers, "Hextract" iconHextract, "Pure Water" iconPure Water, "Slippery Sap" iconSlippery Sap, and so on - despite knowing about crafting, however, you will not find any means to actually craft anything until near the end of the game. It should be obvious that the faerie named “Craft-Master” should have something to do with crafting - it’s in her name, after all - but she won’t offer this service to you until you’ve obtained all five Sigils, the last of which can’t be obtained until you reach the [Weeping Isle] dungeon.

At this point you can return to Craft-Master in the Faerie Village and, provided she’s not distracted by story events, she’ll inform you that she’s not a one-trick faerie and will offer to craft other items for you, provided you bring her the materials she needs. These would be the aforementioned “ingredients used in crafting” mentioned earlier, which Craft-Master will turn into various consumables upon request:

Craftable Items List

Craftable Item Material Required
Holy Water "Pure Water" iconPure Water x1
Tangleweb "Spider Web" iconSpider Web x1
Coagulant "Twitching Powder" iconTwitching Powder x1
"Oomph" iconOomph Powder "Hextract" iconHextract x1
Chimaera Wing "Frazzled Feathers" iconFrazzled Feathers x1
Musk "Jeeper Creeper" iconJeeper Creeper x1
Unsealant "Slippery Sap" iconSlippery Sap x1
Strong Medicine "Two-Leaf Clover" iconTwo-Leaf Clover

The materials required for crafting can be found in lootable containers, sparkly spots on the world map and as hidden items. Oddly enough, the consumables you can create this way are… fairly mundane? Many of these craftable items can just be purchased from stores or dropped by enemies, which makes the craftable items required rarer than the consumables they produce… not that they serve any other purpose, mind you. All in all it’s a rather late-game and limited way to make unexceptional items, and frankly feels like an after-thought, or perhaps the remnants of a larger system that was mostly stripped out of the game? Either way, you’ll need to craft one of each of these items to pop the Master Crafter achievement/trophy.
