Those familiar with the Dragon Quest games will know about Mini Medals, small coin-like objects that are hidden throughout the game’s world. While they weren’t in the original versions of Dragon Quest II, they have now been inserted into the current remake of the game. There are a total of 80 Mini Medals to be found in Dragon Quest II, with them being obtainable as soon as you pretty much gain control in Midenhall. In addition to the Master of Medals trophy/achievement, you can turn in Mini Medals to a wealthy NPC for various prizes. This page will detail the locations of every Mini Medal in Dragon Quest II: HD-2D Remake, as well as list all of the prizes that can be obtained from turning them in.

so make sure that you thoroughly search every nook and cranny while exploring.
Where to Find Mini Medals¶
As mentioned above, you will be able to find a total of 80 Mini Medals in Dragon Quest II: HD-2D Remake, which is double the amount from the first game. You can find them in all sorts of locations, too, like barrels, pots, and chests. There are even some Mini Medals that require you to search a location, so thoroughly look around to see if there’s anything you can investigate. Once you get later in the game, you can use 
Nose for Treasure (Dragon Quest II) and 
Snoop (Dragon Quest II) to help look for them, since both abilities can help you locate hidden treasures in areas.
How to Exchange Mini Medals¶
Although you can find your first Mini Medal as soon as you have control in Midenhall, you won’t actually be able to exchange them for prizes until a good ways into the game. You will require the boat from Rippleport first, which will allow you to visit the Isle of the Monarch of Medals, found on an island west of Oasis. Once you find this place, you can go inside, speak to the Maharaja of Medals to hand over whatever you’ve found and possibly gain some rewards in the process (listed below).
