Master of Medals - All Mini Medal Locations
Like Cats and Dogs - All Animal Suit Locations
Tombola is a mini-game that is part of the Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake, where you must use
Tombola Tickets to basically spin a machine and win one of the prizes listed. There are a number of places throughout the game that will have a Tombola Stall available, each of them offering different prizes. While a good number of the prizes are good for when you come to them, the main goal here is the Ultimate prize at the top of each list. Getting the Ultimate prize isn’t easy, either, as the odds are stacked against you, but upon doing so, you will unlock the Felicitations, Friend! trophy/achievement.
Seeing this ball means you got the Ultimate prize and the trophy/achievement.
Tombola Ticket Locations¶
Before diving into the actual Tombola Stall locations and their prizes, let’s take a quick second to look at the Tombola Tickets themselves. In order to do a pull at any of the stalls, you’ll need a ticket. You will find a lot of these as treasures when thoroughly searching locations, so you definitely want to comb every inch of places you visit. Of course, you can also get some of the enemies to drop these tickets, some of which are as follows.
Mummy Boy (Oasis/Southern Dragon’s Horn Region)
Mummy (Rippleport Region/Damdara)- Cannibox
- Walking Corpse (Burrowell Region)
Note that you shouldn’t rely on this too much, as the drop rates for items from enemies can be a bit on the low side. Also, for the most part, especially when you start finding them, Canniboxes are finite and don’t respawn, since they are fixed fake chests. At some point later in the game, you’ll be able to purchase Tombola Tickets, so don’t fret over them too much.
All Tombola Stall Locations¶
There are a total of seven locations where you can play Tombola. The first instance of this minigame will happen when you come to Moonahan, during the Moonbrooke scenario. The rest of the spots where you can play are as follows, as well as showing how many tickets you need to spin once.
| Location | Tickets to Spin |
|---|---|
| Moonahan | 1 |
| Oasis | 1 |
| Rimuldar | 2 |
| Beran | 2 |
| Dirkandor | 2 |
| Mersea | 2 |
| Cloudgate Citadel | 3 |
All Tombola Prizes¶
The following table will list all of the prizes for the Tombola Stalls in the game.
Moonahan Tombola Prizes¶
Despite the
Golden Claws being a extremely strong weapon, it has a big downside to it. If you have it equipped, or even in a character’s inventory, your enemy encounter rate will be increased. If you know a boss is coming up, you could possibly keep it in the Equipment Bag, then toss it on your main character right before then (you can freely switch equipment during battles). The other two pieces of equipment are good for the time you first unlock this Tombola, since the Edged Boomerang is great for Caradoc, since it’s better than the basic one and the
Dancer’s Costume is a nice armor for Peronel.
| Class | Prize |
|---|---|
| Ultimate | |
| 1st Class | Edged Boomerang |
| 2nd Class | |
| 3rd Class | Magic Water |
| 4th Class | Antidotal Herb |
Oasis Tombola Prizes¶
You will want to get the
Loyalty Card from this Tombola Stall as soon as possible, as it will give you a 20% discount across all of the shops throughout the game. Outside of that, the other two pieces of equipment are good for the moment, with the
Silver Platter being a nice shield for Peronel.
| Class | Prize |
|---|---|
| Ultimate | |
| 1st Class | |
| 2nd Class | |
| 3rd Class | Magic Water |
| 4th Class | Chimaera Wing |
The Loyalty Card is one of the best prizes, as it gives you a discount at every shop.
Rimuldar Tombola Prizes¶
The
Gold Bracer is a nice accessory for any character, since it provides a nice +15 to defense, plus any defensive spell/ability cast on the character wearing it will have that effect enhanced. The Cat Suit might not be the best armor, but it does change the character’s appearance when equipped (you need four characters as animals for a trophy/achievement). The
Gusterang is a nice improvement for the boomerang class of weapons for Caradoc, so you should definitely look into getting one.
| Class | Prize |
|---|---|
| Ultimate | |
| 1st Class | Cat Suit |
| 2nd Class | |
| 3rd Class | Dieamend |
| 4th Class | Musk |
Dirkandor Tombola Prizes¶
By the time you first can get to Dirkandor, the
Platinum Sword is a pretty nice attack boost for the Hero and Caradoc. Since it’s a 2nd Class prize, you should be able to easily get two of them. The Glombolero isn’t the best armor for defenses, but it does something extremely useful, which is cutting the MP-cost of spells/abilities by half; stick it on someone like Peronel for maximum gains. The
Golden Bamboo Lance is not a particularly powerful weapon, but it does have the added benefit of earning you more money from battles.
| Class | Prize |
|---|---|
| Ultimate | |
| 1st Class | Glombolero |
| 2nd Class | |
| 3rd Class | |
| 4th Class | Unsealant |
Mersea Tombola Prizes¶
The Mersea Tombola Stall isn’t available until after you get the Water Sigil. The
Gold Ring is more a novelty item than a good accessory, as it’s similar to the Elevating Shoes, but with gold (you earn money as you walk with it equipped). The
Dragontail Whip might be a good weapon for someone, with the added effect of dealing more damage to dragons. The
Mercury’s Rapier doesn’t look like much from a glance, but it hits twice with each attack and it also increases your Agility.
| Class | Prize |
|---|---|
| Ultimate | |
| 1st Class | |
| 2nd Class | |
| 3rd Class | Special Medicine |
| 4th Class | Magic Water |
Always aim for 2nd Class or higher, as you usually get some nice equipment.
Beran Tombola Prizes¶
Similar to the Mersea one, the Tombola Stall in Beran won’t open until much later in the game. The
Gold Rosary is nice, simply because it can prevent instant death attacks, but there’s a possibility it can break after doing so (it’s also worth a lot of money). The Blizzard Blade is a nice weapon that can also be used in battles to cast Crackle. The
Malevolash is a strong whip weapon that has an extra perk of potentially debuff enemies’ attack.
| Class | Prize |
|---|---|
| Ultimate | |
| 1st Class | Blizzard Blade |
| 2nd Class | |
| 3rd Class | Magic Water |
| 4th Class | Medicinal Herb |
Cloudsgate Citadel Tombola Prizes¶
You unlock this Tombola Stall from a wish after defeating
Xenlon. This should probably be the first option you choose, as the prizes are Liquid Metal equipment, which are quite powerful.
| Class | Prize |
|---|---|
| Ultimate | |
| 1st Class | |
| 2nd Class | |
| 3rd Class | |
| 4th Class | Magic Water |
