Knight Aberrant Boss Guide
Likely the first proper dungeon you’ll explore in Dragon Quest I: HD-2D Remake, Erdrick’s Hollow is a fair walk northwest of Tantegel. Level up a bit by wandering on the world map to ensure you’ve got the durability to survive the (rather weak) enemies inside, but worry not about the treasure, as this page will provide the location of all the loot in Erdrick’s Hollow!
Page Breakdown¶
You’ll encounter some duplicitous would-be heroes when you enter Erdrick’s Hollow, but fortunately they’re not serious rivals.
When you enter this dungeon you’ll soon stumble across some would-be heroes who use less-than-heroic tactics to get a head start on the hero. Don’t worry, however - their courage and competence aren’t sufficient for them to make good on their endeavor. You can find them throughout the dungeon ahead, but talking to them isn’t necessary and they don’t say anything important. More importantly, they don’t challenge you for any treasure, so let’s get to it!
Make sure you pick up the Sandstorm Scroll on the first level.
Erdrick’s Hollow - B1 Treasure¶
| Treasure | Location |
|---|---|
| 56 gold coins | In a barrel along the northern edge of the map. |
| **Leather Shield ** | In a chest in the northeastern corner. |
| In a chest in a dead-end hallway in the center-west of the map. Can blind your opponents and make it harder for them to hit you with melee attacks. | |
| Divine Dagger | In a chest along the southern edge of the map. If you didn’t buy it earlier, keep it on the hero, as it’s a decent early-game weapon that’ll deal extra damage against undead. |
| Dragon Scale | In a chest along the eastern edge of the map, just opposite (north of) the stairs leading to Erdrick’s Hollow - B2. |
There are 5 treasures in Erdrick’s Hollow - B1, most of which are in chests. As long as you explore the area thoroughly you shouldn’t miss any. Be especially sure to grab the
Sandstorm Scroll, as it’ll teach you a new ability that can blind your foes. The
Divine Dagger (Dragon Quest I) is also a decent early-game weapon you can swap to whenever you wish to deal extra damage against the undead.
After you get all the treasure, find the stairs down in the southeastern corner of the map.
A Mini Medal (1/40) awaits you in a chest in the room to the southwest on the second floor.
Erdrick’s Hollow - B2 Treasure¶
| Treasure | Location |
|---|---|
| 314 gold coins | From the stairs to Erdrick’s Hollow - B1, head west, north, then west past a fork to the south. When you can’t go west any further, turn north to find the chest containing this gold. |
| Magic Water | In the southwesternmost chamber (with the sleeping slime), you’ll find three pots in the corner. This is in the westernmost pot. |
| Medicinal Herb x2 | In the southwesternmost chamber (with the sleeping slime), you’ll find three pots in the corner. This is in the center pot. |
| 103 gold coins | In the southwesternmost chamber (with the sleeping slime), you’ll find three pots in the corner. This is in the easternmost pot. |
| Mini Medal (1/40) | In the southwesternmost chamber (with the sleeping slime), you’ll find a chest in the southwestern corner of the room. Open it to score what is likely your first Mini Medal! |
| Chimaera Wing | From the southwestern room (see treasure above), follow a hallway north, then east to find this chest in a small cubby to the south. |
The treasure you really want to walk away with here is Mini Medal (1/40), as the rewards for finding all these are really quite good. The southwesternmost room with a sleeping slime contains the majority of this level’s 6 treasures, however, and since the level is fairly short and linear it shouldn’t be hard to find them all. Enjoy it while it lasts!
Worm your way to the north-center of the level and inspect the grave to trigger a cutscene, which fulfills your obligations here.
