Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance

Shroom

By
Jarrod Garripoli
Portrait Description
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance Screenshot They were born after mushrooms were exposed to the magic of the Netherworld and gained minds of their own. Generally, mushrooms grow everywhere in the Netherworlds, but Eryngis only come from naturally grown mushrooms. They enjoy a short lifespan, and seem optimistic.

The Shroom is unlockable once you reach Episode 5, when a quest titled Eri Eri Poko Poko appears in the Quest Shop. To complete it, you need to defeat three mushroom objects, so head to Demunshroom to do that. On the surface, the Shroom doesn’t exactly seem like an amazing monster unit, unless you plan around the fact it’s great against female units. It is definitely a physically based monster, since its INT is pretty low, but its stats aren’t particularly amazing in any one category. It does learn a 3x3 skill as its final one, which is always useful in leveling up on specific maps.

Evilities

The Shroom’s unique Evility is Shroom Power, which decreases the stats of adjacent female enemies by 20%. If you know you’re going to be facing a lot of female enemies, then this could be a great Evility, although it requires the unit to be next to them. Listless Spores gives the unit with this a 25% chance to inflict Weaken when attacking normally. Weaken is a pretty good ailment, as it lowers the stats of the enemy by 30%, but you can simply put a spell on someone to inflict it that way. Self-Sacrifice makes it so when the unit with it is defeated, all of the allies’ Revenge Gauge on the map is increased by 20%. Since this requires a sacrifice, it’s not really that good and you can’t really control the Revenge Gauge outside of that.

Macho Splendor decreases the damage taken from female units by 30%. This can be a pretty good Evility, especially when you toss it with other damage reduction ones, but it only works for female units. Mushroom Doping increases a random stat by 20% at the end of the turn, with it lasting for three turns. This might be decent as you’re playing the game, but by the time you get access to it, you might have the better stat-increasing Evilities available. Eryngi Fluid gives you a 30% chance to obtain an SP recovery item when attacked by an item. note that the attack must deal damage to the character with this, as it doesn’t work if it misses or does 0 damage. This is good for one thing only, which is to get a Carnage item to start your dive into the Item World for high Rank equipment.
