There are plenty of caches of treasure hidden around for those observant and curious enough to find them, and one such cache can be found in one of the Railyard buildings in Slatten Dale. This page will discuss how to get past the locked door in the Railyard building and find the treasure hidden behind it in Atomfall!

Page Breakdown

Railyard Location

When you emerge from the Bunker along the southwestern edge of Slatten Vale, you won’t have much to your name. Worse yet, you’ll have to trek through said Slatten Vale en route to a village to the northeast, a land of dubious safety following the Atom Plant incident. You’ll probably want some supplies and a weapon, and a cache you can loot along the way can provide these.

Make your way to the northeastern corner of Slatten Dale and when you get close you should find a road running northeast/southwest. If you follow the road northeast you’ll eventually reach the gates leading to Wyndham Village, southwest of which the road will run past two buildings. The larger building (northwest) is your target, but be careful, as the area is crawling with Outlaws. They typically won’t attack you unless you get too close or do something wantonly provocative, like pointing a gun at them. You’re mileage may vary depending on your difficulty settings, however.

Find the Loot the Railyard Cache

Enter the building northwest of the road and avoid any Outlaws at least enough to avoid combat. Enter from the southern end of the building and search a crate in the corner to the north and you’ll find a Torch - or a flashlight, if you’re American. This isn’t the treasure we’re after, but it’s a nice tool to grab anyways, providing you a source of illumination in dark areas and a way to highlight loot, in a pinch. Even better, it takes up a tool slot, not a proper inventory slot, so it won’t burden you much.

Back on track - search the southeastern half of this building and you’ll find some stairs leading up to the second floor. Ascend them, go through a doorway to the right, turn right again down a hallway, and you’ll find a barred door… also to your right. You can’t get through this flimsy wooden door by any reasonable contrivance, but fortunately you don’t have to. Look northeast down the hallway and you’ll find an opening in the wall, conveniently marked with white… uh… let’s just pretend it’s chalk. Approach and you’ll get a prompt to climb through. Do so and search a crate to the northeast to find the note ”Superstitious Nonsense”, a bit of lore penned by an outlaw discussing some creature living in the mines - interesting, but there are no leads to be found here.

Search the wally in the southern corner of the room to find a gap you can squeeze through, beyond which is the room beyond the locked door. Search the shelves to the southeast to find some Glue and Alcohol, while a perpendicular shelf in the southern corner holds a Mk.VI Revolver and Pistol Ammo x3. It’s better than nothing, but it’s worth noting that guns - especially rusted ones - aren’t terribly deadly outside of headshots and ammo can be scarce in the early-goings. Don’t rely on an old, battered revolver and three pistol rounds to get you through a fight with a band of Outlaws.

Once you have these treasures, open the door to the northwest, bypassing the lock and returning back to the hallway you passed through earlier.
