Although Atomfall isn’t necessarily about attacking the enemies with a melee weapon or a gun, it does give you the choice and plenty of weapons to choose from. There are six types of weapons: "Bow" iconBows, Machine Guns, Melee Weapons, Pistols, Rifles, and Shotguns. Read on to find out about every gun that exists in Atomfall.

There are six types of weapons in Atomfall. From melee to close range weapons such as shotguns, to long range weapons like the rifle.

Melee Weapons

Melee weapons are used primarily to preserve ammo. In general, you’ll want to kick the enemy to stun them briefly, giving you ample time to get a few hits in. Repeat this until the enemy is defeated. There are two types of melee weapons, blunt and slashing, with the former producing harder but slower attacks, while the latter produces weaker but quicker attacks. Also, the latter will regularly place the bleed defbuff on the enemy.

Bows

Bows are ideal for taking enemies out from range while not giving your position away. These are extremely quiet and are capable of one-hit headshots. They can be further enhanced by taking the "Draw Speed" iconDraw Speed skill perk, which increases how quickly you can nock an arrow.

Weapon Damage Noise Other
"Bow" iconBow High Very Quiet Holding Draw Increases Damage and Range

Bows are great weapons to use for long-range stealth kills. Aim for the head to take them down in one shot.

Pistols

Pistols are your standard handgun weapons, capable of respectable damage with low recoil. Although ammo is scarce, "Pistol Ammo" iconPistol Ammo is more frequent than the other guns, so it’s always worth having one assigned to your shortcut. These are semi-automatic weapons with a generous magazine capacity.

Pistols tend to get more ammo than the other guns, and they are good for close-to-medium range encounters inside buildings.

Shotguns

Shotguns are the weapons you want for any close-range engagement due to their high power. Naturally, their weakness is range, but they can still shoot a respectable distance. There are three types of shotguns available: Slug (Leamington), Double-Barrel (Eastleigh), and Semi-Automatic (Broadside), which all have their pros and cons.

Weapon Damage Range Other

Use a shotgun to take out any foe at close-range.

Rifles

Rifles are the weapon you want for long-range engagements, where you want to pick off enemies from a distance. These are great for taking guards out from watchtowers or picking off an enemy without giving your position away if you’re in some sort of cover (provided another enemy isn’t nearby). There are three types of rifles available: Single Shot (Terrier .22), Bolt-Action (Lee No.4), and Semi-Automatic (JM-3).

Weapon Damage Rate of Fire Other
"Lee No.4 (Rusty)" iconLee No.4 (Rusty) High Low

"JM-3 Bullpup Rifle (Pristine)" iconJM-3 Bullpup Rifle (Pristine) Very High Very High High Accuracy
"Modified JM-3" iconModified JM-3 High Very High High Accuracy, Modifications have been done by hand

Arguably the best weapon type in the game, Rifles, especially the Automatic ones, which can mow down enemies. Unfortunately, ammo is scarce.

Machine Guns

Machine Guns are great for encounters with multiple enemies. You have two variations here with the SMG (Peerless, Stengun), and LMG (Enfield), with the SMG having two types: Semi-Automatic (Peerless) and Automatic (Stengun). Ideally, you’ll want to use the SMGs when faced with multiple enemies in close range and the LMG for groups of enemies at a distance.

Weapon Damage Range Other
"Peerless SMG (Rusty)" iconPeerless SMG (Rusty) High Low
"Peerless SMG (Stock)" iconPeerless SMG (Stock) High Low Average Recoil
"Peerless SMG (Pristine)" iconPeerless SMG (Pristine) High High Average Recoil
"Stengun Mk 2 (Rusty)" iconStengun Mk 2 (Rusty) High Low

"Stengun Mk 2 (Pristine)" iconStengun Mk 2 (Pristine) High High Low Recoil
"Enfield LMG (Rusty)" iconEnfield LMG (Rusty)
"Enfield LMG (Stock)" iconEnfield LMG (Stock) Very High Low Accuracy High Recoil

If you’re up against groups of enemies, switch to an SMG (for close-range), or an LMG (for medium-long range).

That’s it for the weapons of Atomfall. To obtain the Stock and Pristine versions of the guns, you’ll most likely need to upgrade them (although they can be found). This can be done by unlocking the "Gunsmith" iconGunsmith Skill and having two of the same weapon.

Combined with some crafting materials, this will increase the rank of your gun. Read our Weapon Upgrade Guide for more information.
