Mother Jago is one of the most important characters you’ll meet in Atomfall. While she might just be a trader, you’ll quickly realize there’s more at work. Speaking to her will give you a quest that involves getting her Herbalism book from a castle that serves as the druids’ home base. Here’s how you can meet Mother Jago and get her book in Atomfall.

Finding Mother Jago¶
Mother Jago can be found in the Old Mine at 27.2E, 92.2N, to the northeast of Casterfell Woods in Atomfall. It’s to the north of the Garden Centre. You’ll learn of her at the Bakery in Wyndham Village when a woman asks you for some tonic for her infected husband. Notes scattered across the Casterfell Woods also connect Mother Jago to the druids and their rituals. Speaking with her will grant you the quest of obtaining her Herbalism book. You can also trade with her for the Antidote crafting recipe, spores, and Antidotes.
Locating her Herbalism book¶
Mother Jago’s Herbalism book sits in the castle at the southwest edge of Casterfell Woods. Sneak past the druids or fight them to gain access to the castle entrance. We recommend using a bow since druids tend to have arrows with them and you’ll find ammo scattered inside the castle. While saving mid-game is helpful in Atomfall, remember that enemies can spawn back when you load a save file.
Once you’re inside the castle, keep going until you find the feast hall. You’ll find a few druids patrolling the area so make quick work of them. There’s a hidden entrance here that you can access with the Castle key found in a room to the left of the feast hall. Open the entrance and head to the right from here to find a herbalists’ workshop.
This room has the Strange Tonic recipe to grant resistance against infection, spores that serve as crafting materials, as well as Mother Jago’s Herbalism book. Remember to save some inventory space for it. You can retrace your steps to leave but we recommend heading deeper into the caves to find the High Priestess at the bottom. She stands in front of a pit filled with electronic parts and holds an Atomic Battery, an item essential for unlocking the secrets of the Interchange tunnel system. You can leave the caves via an exit behind the Priestess’ pulpit.
Returning to Mother Jago¶
Return to Mother Jago with her book and she will attempt to gauge your understanding of the druids and the infection. If you present yourself as being open to her ideas, she will give you an Offering that turns druids neutral. Funny how Mother Jago didn’t think of that before you put druids on the endangered species list.
You’ll need to take this Offering to the Speaking Cave near the Sewer Tunnels and place it in the bowl under the idol. Even if you aren’t sold on Mother Jago’s ideas, pursue this questline to gain more leads toward the true nature of the Interchange. That covers getting your hands on Mother Jago’s Herbalism book in Atomfall.
