Like a Dragon Gaiden

Four Kings Substory - Like A Dragon Gaiden

By
Jarrod Garripoli

The Coliseum is a big part of the story and gameplay in Like A Dragon Gaiden, as it’s great for money and fun to just beat up some foes. There are also some Substories attached to the Coliseum, which involve the Four Kings. You will unlock the Four Kings side stuff in Chapter 4 of the main story, upon leaving the Castle. You will trigger a boss battle against one of the Four Kings at this point, after which, the individual battles against them all will begin. This page will go over how to beat all of the Four Kings.

The Four Kings are at the top of the Coliseum, so expect some tough fights.

King Dan Brody Boss Guide

After you do the initial battle with Brody, you will find him in the Coliseum Reception area. You can talk to him here to start the battle, whenever you are ready. This will be a Hell Team Rumble, so you should have a good party here. While you shouldn’t need to be max level/bond with all of your characters, that goes a long way and helps a lot. You can easily do this with the ¥1.8 million item from the one shop in the Fighters’ Lounge, or just replaying the fourth Platinum Hell Team Rumble match. Note that if you have the money, you can go over to the bar and purchase the champagne there to boost everyone’s Bond at the same time.

As far as the battle is concerned, Brody will have the drones that you have, and can summon them quite often. There are a number of regular enemies here, although they aren’t really the problem, other than their health pools. You can go one of two routes in this battle, as you can either concentrate on Brody yourself and leave the other enemies to your party, or do the opposite. If you go after the normal enemies, that will allow you to have your team gang up on Brody. Note that the special enemy Order can do a little bit of healing, but this shouldn’t be much of a problem.

(1 of 3) Brody will summon the drones quite often in the battle.

King Samejima Boss Guide

This is a one-on-one fight and Samejima is more annoying than difficult. He’s equipped with the Serpent rocket shoes and has guns, so he’s going to be trying to keep away from you at all times. He does have a few melee moves, but nothing that’s too crazy. Some of these melee moves can be followed by him shooting his guns at you, so be aware of that, since the shots do tend to perform a hard knockdown. Depending on your upgrades and equipment, though, you really shouldn’t have a hard time with this battle. Just make sure that you play a little defensively when you are close to him, as being too aggressive will cause him to get the usual super armor and retaliate.

(1 of 2) Samejima will be constantly move around and away from you.

Samejima will be constantly move around and away from you. (left), His gun attacks can be annoying, if you don’t have the proper defenses. (right)

After defeating Samejima, you will have to fight King JUSTICE next. This can be one of the toughest battles in the game, so it has its own dedicated page (click the link here to go there). Upon defeating JUSTICE, you will have one more King left, the best of the best, Ugajin.

King Ugajin Boss Guide

First and foremost, Ugajin is more or less as if you’re fighting yourself, with the Agent style. The reason for this is that Ugajin has access to the drones, the Spider gadget, and even the explosive cigarettes. Depending on how powerful you’ve made yourself, this could be an easy battle or a very tough one. You will definitely not want to be caught by the Spider gadget, so having the dodge roll unlocked in the Yakuza Style skill tree is a great thing here. Outside of the gadgets that he can use, the battle isn’t really all too challenging.

The drones can really output a lot of damage here, so it’s best to just start running at full speed to get away from them. If you manage to get caught up in them, they can stunlock you for a brief moment and allow Ugajin to get in close enough to melee you. He also seems to always backflip to get away from you whenever he does the Spider gadget attack, so it should be easy to dodge. Should you get caught, though, mash the button to break free before he delivers his big punch. The explosive cigarette isn’t really used all too much.

(1 of 5) Ugajin has access to three of the four gadgets you do.

Upon defeating all of the Four Kings, you can head on over to Akame in her hideout and get a new Request. Finish this to unlock one of the Special Event Matches, where you fight all four Kings back-to-back, in singles fights. Once you’ve done that and finished all of the other Coliseum matches, you will unlock the final Special Event Match. From there, you will finally unlock the Tetsu Amon battle and subsequently, the Gai Amon one.
