Shadow of the Erdtree is the first major DLC for Elden Ring and with that comes many items, equipment and secrets. On this page, we’ll provide you with the necessary steps to finding the new melee weapon, Dryleaf Arts.
Finding the Dryleaf Arts¶
You’ll need to reach the Highroad Cross Site of Grace in the Scadu Atlus Region and this can be done by working your way through Castle Ensis which is located to the Northeast of the Ellac Greatbridge. This will require taking on Rellana, Twin Moon Knight which we only recommend doing once you’ve collected a few Scadutree Fragments and have a fully leveled weapon in your arsenal. Once you’ve reached the Highroad Cross, interact with the item next to Miquella’s Cross to obtain the Monk’s Missive.
Head over to the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace (east of Highroad Cross) to find the Monk nearby. Unfortunately, he won’t speak to you, so you’ll need to perform the May The Best Win gesture in front of him. This will then transport you to a different area where you’ll have to face to face Dryleaf Dane in a duel. If your equipment/build is up to scratch then this opponent shouldn’t cause you too much of a problem.
Defeating Dryleaf Dane¶
Dryleaf Dane is a monk, so as you may expect the majority of his attacks are melee based and he doesn’t have any ranged attacks. With this knowledge we recommend that you create some distance and use ranged attacks yourself, such as spells or a bow. If you don’t have any of these available and your only option is to go hand-to-hand, then you’ll want to keep on the move until he’s finished a set of attacks and then quickly weave in one or two hits before retreating. If he’s charging up an attack, then that’s another great opportunity to go in for a backstab.
Once you’ve successfully slayed Dryleaf Dane, you’ll return to the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace and Dryleaf Arts and Dane’s Hat can be found on the floor. As the Dryleaf Arts are just some gloves, you’ll need to be up close and personal with the enemy to make good use of them, so we only recommend using them if your build has a lot of vigor (especially in the Realm of Shadow).
