Shadow of the Erdtree is the first major DLC for Elden Ring and with that comes many items, equipment and secrets. Backhand Blades are one of the new weapon types you can find out in the Realm of Shadow and on this page, we’ll provide you with the locations of all three weapons.

Every Backhand Blade¶

There are only three Backhand Blade weapons to be found in the world and they are the following: Backhand Blade, Smithscript Cirque, and Curseblade’s Cirque. A lot of the opponents in Shadow of the Erdtree are aggressive and deal tons of damage so using a lightweight weapon, such as a Backhand Blade will be a good option for most players as you’ll be able to get in and out of harm relatively quickly.

The Backhand Blade can be found next to a stone coffin to the northeast of the Scorched Ruins which is situated in the Gravesite Plain region. It has the special skill Blind Spot which allows you to leap into close quarters and take advantage of the enemy’s blind spot and attack them from the side. It used the special skill Deadly Dance which is an aggressive spinning skill that tears into foes using the circular blades held in each hand.

The Curseblade’s Cirque can be dropped via Curseblade enemies which can be found sitting on top of the archways slightly to the northeast of the Gravesite Plain site of grace. Unfortunately, it isn’t a guaranteed drop so you’ll want to use items which will improve item discovery, such as the Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot.

Head to the Ruined Forge Of Starfall Past (left), and make your way over to the end of the path to find the Smithscript Cirque. (right)

The Smithscript Cirque can be found by heading to the Ruined Forge Of Starfall Past which is located to the southeast of the Highroad Cross site of grace that is situated in the Scadu Altus region. Here you’ll want to work your way through the dungeon until you’ve interacted with the second lever, then you’ll find it at the end of the path. This weapon also uses the special skill Blind Spot.
