Pokémon: Sun & Moon

Melemele Meadow

By
Vincent Lau

A pretty relaxing place to be if it weren’t for all the Pokemon encounters.

Pokémon Encounters - Melemele Meadow

Name Types(s) Location (Encounter Rate)
"Caterpie" IconCaterpie Bug All grass (10%)
"Metapod" IconMetapod Bug All grass (9%)
"Butterfree" IconButterfree Bug All grass (1%)
"Cottonee" IconCottonee Grass/Fairy All grass (30%, Sun only)
"Petilil" IconPetilil Grass All grass (30%, Moon only)
"Oricorio" IconOricorio (Pom-Pom Style) Flying/Electric All grass (20%)
"Cutiefly" IconCutiefly Bug/Fairy All grass (30%)

Inside, step a few paces west to find Lillie. She’ll ask you to go and retrieve "Cosmog" IconCosmog, who’s gleefully playing in the furthest part of the meadow. Oh, you silly little space creature. First, follow the high path south to find a Great Ball in the corner, next to a rock.

From here, head north towards the rock surrounded by yellow flowers. Inspect its left side for some delicious Honey . Next, head west through the yellow flowers. Be prepared for a lot of wild Pokemon encounters. When you reach the next slope, don’t go up it just yet.

Instead, head south for a bit. Carefully align yourself so you’re directly south of the item sitting on the outcrop to the north. After this, move until you’re roughly halfway between the outcrop and the wall below. Search around here for a hidden Honey .

Very soon, you can find hidden items without blindly searching.

This bit is a little tricky, so you may want to use a Repel to ward off wild Pokemon for a while. If you’re stuck, refer to our pictures. Or if it sounds too fussy, just move on. It’s only Honey after all! By the way, if you continue due west, there’s a hidden gap in the cliff wall.

This leads to the Seaward Cave and we bet a lot of Pokemon trainers miss it the first time. However, without the ability to traverse water, it’s not worth visiting right now. Anyway, head back towards the slope above and climb it back to higher ground.

Before moving on, grab the Net Ball at the outcrop’s edge. Next, follow the higher ground north. Where the male tourist is, jump over the nearby ledge, straight into the flowers to the left. Immediately to your right is a big rock. Search its left side for more Honey .

While you’re still on fire, run south-west through the flowers, then ascend the slope at the far end. Cosmog will be right next to where you arrive. If you want, run past Cosmog and head straight into the flowers to its south. Along the west is a Poison Barb that you should pick up.

Further south is a Photo Spot if you want to get some Poke Finder action in. Meanwhile, heading east from Cosmog will send you back towards the entrance, so don’t go that way unless there’s an emergency or should you return to the meadows afterwards.

When you’re all done here, head back to Cosmog and say “hi” to it to complete your mission. You’ll instantly return to the entrance where Lillie is patiently waiting. Lillie will also heal your team. Whew. Afterwards, you’ll be taken outside back onto Route 3.

Hau will arrive fresh from his first trial and, guess what, ready for another solid beating from you!

Pokemon Trainer Hau

Pokemon Level Type
"Pikachu" IconPikachu 13 Electric
"Popplio" IconPopplio (if you picked "Rowlet" IconRowlet) 14 Water
"Rowlet" IconRowlet (if you picked "Litten" IconLitten) 14 Grass/Flying
"Litten" IconLitten (if you picked "Popplio" IconPopplio) 14 Fire

Not much has changed really, except you’ve got access to a lot more Pokemon. If you caught a "Diglett" IconDiglett, you’ll be able to take out "Pikachu" IconPikachu no sweat.

For his starter Pokemon, you can take out "Popplio" IconPopplio with Oricorio, "Cottonee" IconCottonee or "Petilil" IconPetilil, "Rowlet" IconRowlet with "Growlithe" IconGrowlithe or Oricorio and "Litten" IconLitten with the likes of "Wingull" IconWingull or "Slowpoke" IconSlowpoke. That’s just a few of your options–he’s only got 2 Pokemon and you’ve got up to 6, so it’s really hard to lose.

Your next objective is to take on the grand trial of Melemele Island. To get there in record time, you can cut through the remainder of Route 3. Shall we? By the way, your Pokemon will be fully healed up. Huh, when did that happen?
