Pokémon: Sun & Moon

Paniola Town

By
Vincent Lau

It’s like living in a Western!

This Western-themed town serves as a much welcome rest area before the next leg of your journey. To begin with, go forward a few paces to bump into your good buddy Hau. He’ll challenge you to a battle here and now, although fortunately he’ll heal your Pokemon beforehand.

Pokemon Trainer Hau

Pokemon Level Type
"Pikachu" IconPikachu 16 Electric
"Brionne" IconBrionne (if you picked "Rowlet" IconRowlet) 17 Water
"Dartrix" IconDartrix (if you picked "Litten" IconLitten) 17 Grass/Flying
"Torracat" IconTorracat (if you picked "Popplio" IconPopplio) 17 Fire

Hau has finally evolved his starter Pokemon, although honestly there’s still not a lot of difference. The main thing you should be cautious about is that his starter Pokemon is now equipped with Normalium Z, so it can use Breakneck Blitz.

Although since it comes from Tackle or Scratch, it won’t be doing that much damage. Just hit it hard with your own starter Pokemon and use Potions if the damage isn’t superficial.

After the battle, Hau will give you a Dire Hit before leaving. You should hang onto that for the next Totem Pokemon; it could be extremely useful. Anyway, with Hau gone, you’re free to roam around. Paniola Town is bursting with charm, but sadly it’s also pretty tiny.

First thing you should do is make a beeline for the Pokemon Centre to the north east. Not to heal your Pokemon per se since your party will have been fully healed without you noticing. Rather, use this opportunity to check the Poke Marts and stock up on supplies.

If you have the dosh, the right clerk is selling some special Poke Balls (Repeat, Timer and Net) for 1,000 Poke Dollars a pop. Next, go inside the building west from the Pokemon Centre, across the road. Inside, head for the back and use the staircase to go upstairs.

On the top floor, make your way to the end of the corridor where the "Magmar" IconMagmar are gathered. Chat to the Magmar at the end, on the right, to receive a free Quick Ball from… somewhere. That’s… actually all there is to see, although you can also check the rooms on the left if you want.

When you’re good to go, carry on north along the road west from the Pokemon Centre to exit town.
