Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! & Let's Go, Eevee!

Going For a Stroll

By
Vincent Lau

You can literally take your favorite Pokémon to work, school, etc.

If you have a Poké Ball Plus, you can put one of your Pokémon from the game into the Poké Ball Plus, and take it for a walk. To do so, go to the Save menu and select “Take your Pokémon for a stroll”. The game will then prompt you to connect to your Poké Ball Plus.

When it’s connected, you can choose your partner Pokémon or another Pokémon from your box. Afterwards, that Pokémon will enter your Poké Ball Plus. However, the Pokémon will still remain in your game, so you can continue to battle with them etc. The one in your Poké Ball Plus is essentially a “shadow”.

While you’re out and about with your Poké Ball Plus, it will count the steps you’ve taken. You can also play with your Pokémon by holding the analogue stick inwards for 2 seconds, until the light turns on. You can then jiggle the Poké Ball Plus around, on a flat surface or just in the air. From time to time, your Pokémon may call out to you, which means it wants to play.

Later on, when you think you think you’re done, go to the Save menu again and select “Take your Pokémon for a stroll” like before. This time, the game will recognise that a Pokémon is in your Poké Ball Plus and will ask if you want to bring it back.

Once you bring back your Pokémon, your Pokémon will gain experience points depending on the number of steps you’ve walked, if you played with your Pokémon, etc. Depending on the experience points earned, you may also receive items such as berries and candies (if your Pokémon can’t gain experience, you’ll still get these items).

In addition, when you reach certain milestones for an activity (such as 10,000 steps walked), you may receive rarer items, including species candies and Rare Candies. These milestones will carry on to the next time you go on a stroll (so you don’t need to walk 10,000 steps in one go).
