Goro Goro Kitchen is one of the many side activities in Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, with this one providing a great benefit for Majima. You can cook various dishes that becomes items you can use to recover. Unlocking Goro Goro Kitchen is simple, as it’s available fairly early in your adventure and you’ll be able to access it whenever you find a cooking spot while exploring. Once you get the full capabilities of your ship, you’ll even be able to cook on there, too.

Cooking is pretty simple, as it just resorts to up to three different minigames, depending on the recipe. The goal is to do well enough at each minigame to fill up the gauge at the bottom of the screen. If you completely fill it, then you get an increase to the quality of the meal. Of course, in order to even cool a dish, you need to gather the ingredients while exploring. There are five different ingredient types, which include Meat, Insects, Fish, Produce, and Byproducts. You can find a lot of these while exploring, plus you’ll also be able to purchase some from the various shops.

Note that each ingredient comes in different qualities, ranging from one-star to three-stars. The higher the quality of the ingredient used, the better quality your dish will be upon successfully cooking it (also ranges from one to three stars). You can make up to three of the same dish at one time, but doing so will make the minigames more challenging.

Goro Goro Kitchen Minigames

As mentioned above, you will have up to three different minigames whenever you cook a recipe. These are Starting a Fire, Slicing and Dicing, and Skimming the Scum. Depending on the dish you’re trying to make, you will either have two minigames or all three. Note that the later recipes will pretty much use all three minigames, so you will want to get used to them.

Starting a Fire

There will be a gauge on the right side of the screen, with ranges colored both orange and red. Your goal in this minigame is to hold the designated button to start blowing, then releasing it so the cursor falls in that range. Stopping in the red area of the gauge will strengthen the fire best, so you should always shoot for that. The hotter the flame in the time allotted, the higher the quality of your dish. Higher difficulties will lower the window for the red part of the gauge.

Slicing and Dicing

The simple task presented for this minigame just has you pressing the button combinations that appear on the bottom of your screen. The higher the difficulty of the recipe, the longer and more complicated the button combinations will be. Note that it seems the button combinations are set in stone, though, and aren’t random at all, so once you get used to them, you will be able to do them much more easily. The more ingredients you chop in the time allotted, the higher the quality of your dish.

(1 of 4) When doing the fire minigame, try to land in the red area for best results.

Skimming the Scum

You have a large pot of liquid in front of your, with some scum floating on the top. Hold the designated button to dunk your ladle, then move it around to grab the scum and release the button to remove it. Note that while your ladle is in the liquid, it moves very slowly, so you should only really keep it in there if the pieces are close together. Otherwise, just dunk it in really quickly and remove it for isolated pieces. The more scum you remove in the time allotted, the higher the quality of your dish.

The table below lists all of the recipes that you will learn throughout your journey. Note that not all of them will be available right away, as some are locked behind your Chef Level, which will increase as you make dishes.

The Essence of Pet Snacks is unlocked once you return to Rich Island in Chapter 2 and view a scene at the Goro Animal Kingdom.

The other four items not mentioned will unlock with a higher Chef Level and once you get your fully-working pirate ship in Chapter 2. Pirate Meal for Ten is the last one unlocked at Chef Level 24.
