Substories are the wackier stories in the Like A Dragon series, to offshoot the more serious tone of the main story. During Chapter 7 you may get a short scene with some residents in Mukurogai talking about a ghost in the area which will start the Night of the Living Rumor substory also known as the Fallen Warrior’s Ghost. This page will guide you through where to start, and finish the substory.
Where to Start Night of the Living Rumor¶
This substory can be started during Chapter 7. Head to Mukurogai during the day, and make your way to the river which can be found on the eastern side of the town by following the dark hallway near the Paradise Bar. As you approach the river, you’ll get a short scene of a couple of residents talking about the rumor of a ghost attacking people at night. Remember this location as you’ll need to come back here shortly.
How to Complete Night of the Living Rumor¶
Depending on when you do this substory will determine what you do next. You need to head back to the river in Mukurogai at night, but if you’re doing this substory during Chapter 7, you’ll need to progress the story until you have to go to Asahi. If you’re doing it in a later chapter you can rest until nightfall, either way, the “ghost” won’t appear until it’s dark.
When it’s night, proceed back to the river in Mukurogai where you started the substory, and move forward towards the river. This will trigger a scene where you’ll get to meet, and fight the infamous ghost.
This fight isn’t too difficult and can be beaten the same way you defeated any other enemy in the game. The method with the least effort goes to the Gunman Style and knocking them down with the Finishing Blow attack and following it up with a heat action. Another nice way of knocking them down is the Trooper Ability, Essence of Violent Wind.
Night of the Living Rumor Rewards¶
After the battle, you will discover that he was not really a ghost and that the only reason he was fighting people was due to an unfortunate event in the past. Therefore, he was looking for someone to beat him. He’ll hand over the Nishikigoi Amulet for his thanks as he walks away. This quest will also reward you with 350 Virtue.
