Substories are the wackier stories in the Like A Dragon series, to offshoot the more serious tone of the main story. You will first unlock the ability to do Substories in Chapter 2, although they aren’t shown on your map, so you will need to fully explore each map to find them. This page will give a walkthrough of the It’s a Long Story Substory, found in Fushimi.

Whenever you reach Chapter 2 in the main story, one of the first things you will do is rescue a Shinto Priest from some thugs, after which, he will introduce you to the Virtue mechanic. Once that is over, you will be free to explore Fushimi, the first proper area of the game. While exploring, locate the South Yashikimachi area in the southwest portion, where you want to find the Hanako shop, specifically. On the western side of that building, around the corner, you will find two women talking (or rather, one woman talking excessively). After they are done, speak to the woman that remains to start this Substory.

The lady, named Sakiko, knows she talks a lot, but it was definitely a wake-up call to hear it from someone in the neighborhood. Somehow, you get roped in to listening to her, with Sakiko mentioning that she will quiz you once she’s done. For each of the three Substories, she will ask you three questions, which you will want to answer correctly. The correct answers for this first Substory are as follows:

• Bamboo shoots
• Outside a tea shop
• Sakiko

After completing the Substory, find the nearest building you can enter, go inside, then exit and return to the spot where you found her the first time. This will allow you to start the second Substory.

As mentioned above, you will be able to start the second Substory here, after finishing the first and entering any building. Return to where Sakiko is located and speak with her to get started on the second Substory, with the correct answers being the following.

This is the final Substory in the It’s a Long Story chain, with it taking place at the same spot as the previous two. The correct answers for this final Substory are as follows.
