Substories are the wackier stories in the Like A Dragon series, to offshoot the more serious tone of the main story. During Chapter 6 you can return to Sumi Bozu for a rematch provided you completed his previous substory Brawler for Hire. This page will guide you through where to start, and finish the substory Brawler Incarnate.
Where to Start Brawler Incarnate¶
This substory can be started during Chapter 6 after you’ve finished the previous substory Brawler For Hire. Head to Mukurogai and head to Sumi Bozu which is on the eastern side of the area, southwest of the Paradise Bar. If you’re doing this substory straight after the first part, leave the area, or defeat a random battle to make him reappear again.
When you speak to him again, he looks even more ruthless than before with the names of his previous fights that he won tattooed on his skin. He’ll tell you that he’s been training after his last loss to you, and he’s back stronger than ever (he’s not) and he wants a rematch. Accept his challenge and prepare yourself for another fight.
How to Complete Brawler Incarnate¶
This is the same as the previous fight, and if he’s defeated this amount of people judging by his tattoos, I worry that he wasn’t actually defeating Samurai, but more likely farmhands. Anyway, the only real difference between this battle to the previous encounter will be that he has a bit more health while also gaining a smidgen of extra attack power.
He is aggressive, so you can use this against him by baiting out an attack, or evading it to get behind him to lay down the hurt. It doesn’t matter what style you use as he won’t last long enough for you to take advantage of it. If you struggle, use your Trooper Cards, especially Essence of the Violent Wind. The only real attacks to watch out for are his thrust attack which can deal modest damage or his three-hit combo which you can guard against.
Brawler Incarnate Rewards¶
This substory doesn’t offer a reward other than 350 Virtue as the main reward will come from the final substory in Chapter 10, and it’ll be a good one.
