Substory 51 - The Junk Boy

Substories are the wackier stories in the Like A Dragon series, to offshoot the more serious tone of the main story. You will first unlock the ability to do Substories in Chapter 2, although they aren’t shown on your map, so you will need to fully explore each map to find them. This page will give a walkthrough of The Junk Boy Substory, found in Fushimi.

Where to Start The Junk Boy in Like A Dragon Ishin

You will be able to start this Substory in Chapter 2, right after rescuing the Shinto Priest that tells you about the Virtue mechanic. After doing that, you will be able to freely explore Fushimi, which is the first area of the game. Head to Kuramachi, in the central part of it, and look for two buildings side by side. You can enter both of these buildings, somewhat, and the eastern of the two will have a little boy inside it. Speak to the little boy to start the Substory.

How to Complete The Junk Boy in Like a Dragon Ishin

This is a very simple Substory, especially if you’ve been going around town and looting the jars. The little boy is sad because he doesn’t have any of the newest toys, since he wants to be able to play along with his friends, who do have them. Ryoma suggests cheering them on while they play, or asking to borrow one of the toys, but the little boy wants nothing to do with that. He talks about possibly finding something to give to the others, for borrowing, which turns his attention towards you.

You have the option to give the boy whatever you want, as you will see upon your inventory opening up after choosing to give him something. Pick something, like an Oinment or an Iron Scrap, and hand it over to the boy. Doing so will please him and finish the Substory. This will start a bond with the boy, and you will be able to continue giving him junky items, if you want, to fill up the gauge. Yep, this is a very easy Substory, so it’s pretty much an easy completion.
