As in the real world for most of us, eating and sleeping in Kingdom Come: Deliverance is essential for healthy functioning. As you begin to venture outside of major settlements, it is useful to know when and where you can do both. In Rattay there is no shortage of beds to sleep in; from the free bed at Peshek's Mill to the numerous makeshift refugee beds outside Pirkstein. Once you begin to explore new regions, however, you may find it difficult to find a free bed. The easiest way to sleep while on the move is to locate the nearest lodging in the region, where you can pay to stay in your own room for one night or more. Lodgings can be found in the following settlements:
-- Inn in the Glade
In addition to lodgings there are various camps throughout the landscape. Most of these are inhabited by bandits or Cumans, but there are some which will be abandoned and others established by local Lords. The latter are recognisable by the presence of combat arenas, archery ranges and grindstones. If you are absolutely desperate to sleep and have no time to lose, you can kill any bandits or Cumans in a camp and sleep there safely for a few hours in order to regain strength.
In terms of eating, there are a number of options to obtain sustenance. The simplest, easiest and cheapest way is to eat from a cooking pot. Cooking pots are located throughout the world, concentrated in settlements and camps. With the exception of trespassing on private property, you can eat from any cooking pot free of charge. You would need nothing more were it not for the fact that you can only eat from a cooking pot once before having to wait a few hours for it to be refilled. It is therefore recommended that you take up hunting to cook your own meat, or buy supplies from Traders, Grocers, Bakers and Butchers. Grocers, Bakers and Butchers offer the widest range of the heartiest fresh foods, while Traders offer dried foods which never expire. It is a good idea to have a handful of these dried foods in your inventory to ensure that you are prepared for any sudden onset of hunger.
