Ascend Mt. Jogaku

Head North of Jogaku Temple and help the Musician light the fire to begin the Tale. After the scene has come to a close, proceed further North and climb up until you reach another campfire. Be sure to use it to warm up as Jin will take damage if you get too cold.

(1 of 3) Use fire to warm up

Once you’re all warmed up, continue up the path and use the grappling hook to get past the gap, then climb up the cliff to reach the next fire. Warm back up again, then quickly sprint ahead and climb the cliff again to find a friendly samurai sitting by a fire.

(1 of 2) Use your grappling hook to swing across another gap

Use your grappling hook to swing across another gap (left), then shimmy across to reach the next area. (right)

From here, take the right path and use your grappling hook to swing across, then use it again to reach the wall on the left, now shimmy across and follow the path up ahead. Here you’ll need to use your hook along with the branches to reach the area above, then quickly ignite the fire. Finally, follow the path ahead, then climb up the wall on your left to find a dojo.

Speak with Bettomaru, then pick up the rock to begin the duel.

Duel: Bettomaru

Before you begin this duel, set yourself in the Stone Stance, then take a moment to learn his Unblockable Attacks. However, Bettomaru only has one which involves him performing a triple strike with his Flaming Sword.

(1 of 2) Dodge his Flame Attacks

Dodge his Flame Attacks (left), then take him down with your own Flame. (right)

Once his Swords Flame has gone out, wait for him to strike and then follow up with a counter. Upon getting his Health down to half, press [R1] to light your Sword, then strike multiple times until he puts an end to the battle.

Return to the Musician

Finally, interact with the post nearby where you acquired the stone to descend Mt. Jogaku, then speak with the musician to complete the Tale.
