Toenails are one of the most important end-game items you can stumble upon. This item is required for crafting the Toenail Scimitar, along with the Embiggening Cocktail that restores you back to your old height and complete the game. Here we list the locations of toenails in Grounded, so you can get straight to whacking them.

Grounded Toenail Locations¶

As it stands, there appear to be five locations players can get their hands on toenails in Grounded. When you visit these locations, you will need a Black Ox Hammer to harvest the toenails. These five locations are:

Note that you can also track these five locations by unlocking the resource scanner in the Hedge Ascent, and then getting a resource scanner in a Field Station to look for toenails for you.

Also, these four toenail locations will respawn. However, the reports of the respawn times are not determinable. It appears that every single node can respawn, but its no guarantee a node has respawned on your save or not. Some players report that the Ashtray, Jungle Pipe and Black Widow locations respawn, while others don’t. We recommend checking on the toenails every few in-game days to see which ones spawn and which have not.

Dirty Ashtray Toenail location¶

Players can get the bulk of their Toenials from the Dirty Ashtray in the Shed Decking area.

The major source of toenails in Grounded is the Dirty Ashtray. The location of this site is on the Shed landing, which requires the player to climb up the decking chairs, onto the table, climb the clippers, and then into the Dirt ashtray. Be aware there are a few angry Black Soldier Ants and Dust Mites up there, and they will try to attack you as your parkour your way to the Ashtray. You can avoid them by scooting around the chair rather easily, though.

Jungle Mushroom Pipe Toenail Locations¶

Inside the pipe in the mushroom forest in the southern central area of the Upper Grasslands.

For this toenail, players must go to the Upper Grasslands’ south side. Towards the southern road near the rocks, you will notice a pathway with several mushrooms and toadstool clumps, making it look like a mushroom forest. Head that way, and further down, you’ll find a pipe. Head into the pipe, and you’ll find a toenail inside it, along with a cave you can blow up and explore if you so wish.

The Stump Toenail Location¶

This is sat on a bark peak of the Stump area of the map.

This is perhaps the hardest one to get, in terms of exploration anyway. This requires players to climb up the north side of the Stump, which can be found at the top right of the map. Once you’re up on the top, players will need to parkour across the Stump’s bark peak to the northeast of the Stump. When it gets hard to cross, you can build clover building pieces to cross the gaps and get to the spot. Some areas are supported by the bark, while others are unsupported. You may need to mess around until you can build a path to it.

Stump Log Toenial Location¶

It is found at the edge of the rotten log at the very top of it.

Here’s another parkour toenail location that’s also near the Stump. Players will need to head to the log, whch is found to the southwest of the Stump. To get up to the peak, players can climb up from the bottom of the log to the east side of it. Alternatively, players can parkour up the grass and leaves to the north side of the log and makle their way up that way. Then its a simple walk south west, sticking to the northern most edge of the log. You will then find the toenail at the very end of the log.

Black Widow Toenail location¶

Inside the lair of a Black Widow

The Black Widow toenail location can be found to the south of the Moldorc Castle. Players will find this cave below some stones, with the entrance to its lair in the east of the stones in the middle of the map Be warned, the Blackwidow is tough, and its Widowlings are knocking around. So be ready to bring some counters to fight the Widow.
