This page offers a guide on how to make a Bratburst explosive in Grounded. Bratburst explosives can be used to explode barricades and doors that might be blocking your path. You’ll find them useful during your exploration of the Haze Lab and the Black Ant Lab.
How to Unlock the Bratburst Explosives Recipe¶
In order to unlock the recipe for the Bratburst explosive, you’ll need to analyze either a Fungal Growth or a Red Ant Egg at the Resource Analyzer.
When you want to use the Bratburst, you’ll need to equip it then throw it or drop it. After a short timer it’ll explode and break any barricades in your way. If it drops into water or you pick it up, the timer will stop so don’t worry if you mess up as you can just put it back in your inventory and try again.

Dry Grass Chunk | x4 |
How to Get Fungal Growths¶
Fungal Growths are obtained from killing infected insects and Haze Fungus. Infected insects, like Infected Gnats, Infected Weevils and Infected Larvae (to name but a few) are found in the Haze area in the southwest region of the map. Basically anything glowing and mouldy looking will drop this material! Before you can go into the Haze you will need a Gas Mask though!
How to Get Red Ant Eggs¶
Red Ant Eggs are obtained from the Red Anthill. When you first enter the Red Anthill, you’ll maybe find one or two eggs. But when you kill loads of red ants around the anthill, it’ll cause them to hatch loads of eggs so as to spawn in more red ants. If you go back to the Red Anthill a day or two after killing a bunch of the ants, you’ll find tons of eggs!
If you want to use the eggs to make explosives, you’ll want to make them asap as the eggs are on a timer and when the time is up, they hatch into red ants.
How to Get Dry Grass Chunks¶
Dry Grass Chunks can be obtained through chopping Dry Grass blades. To chop down the Dry Grass, you’ll need an axe - head over to our guide on How to craft a Pebblet Axe for more information.
Later, you can also build a Jerky Rack and dry out Plant Fiber to make Dry Grass Chunks.
