Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Where to Find Shark Fins - Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

By
Nathan Garvin

Crafting is hardly a novel gameplay element in the Yakuza / Like a Dragon series, and it should be no surprise to see it returning in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The core mechanics behind upgrading weapons is simple enough - find a base weapon and some upgrade materials, pay some money, and boom, you’ve got a fancy new weapon. That said, finding some of the components required to craft the best weapons in the game can be somewhat tricky, and this page is here to help out, providing information on how to find Shark Fins in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Seven star weapons will require either Squid Tentacles or Shark Fins to craft.

Shark Fin Locations in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Early in Chapter 4 you’ll be forced to complete Substory "20 - A Better Bat" icon20 - A Better Bat, which introduces you to the weapon crafting system in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Without getting too granular, the more money you spend on crafting weapons at "Julie's Gearworks" iconJulie’s Gearworks (or investing, if you’re feeling generous) will level up the shop. The higher the shop’s level, the more crafting recipes you’ll have access to, and it’s not until Julie’s Gearworks is Lv4 (the max level) that you’ll start seeing the best weapons the game has to offer. Once you’ve unlocked these seven star weapons, you’ll notice that many of them (14 of the 24 jobs that have weapons you can craft, to be precise) require a Shark Fin in order to craft.

Of the 24 jobs that have weapons, 14 of them have high-end weapons that require Shark Fins, so you’ll want to find that many if you want to craft every job’s ultimate weapon. Weapons that don’t require Shark Fins will instead use another rare crafting component: "Squid" iconSquid Tentacles. The breakdown of which jobs require which component can be found below:

(1 of 3) Talk to Yoko on Aloha Beach,

There are numerous ways to get Shark Fins:

  • Buy the Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Gearworks Crafting Set (Medium). This will get you 5x Shark Fins. An easy enough way to get a couple, but they’re not nearly rare enough to justify spending real money on them.

  • Head to Aloha Beach and talk to Yoko (she’s standing southwest of the "Aloha Seaside" iconAloha Seaside restaurant) to start The Recycling Center minigame. Turn in trash and you’ll earn points, a Shark Fin can be purchased from Yoko for 1,000 points. Check out the linked page for more details, but you pretty much just have to run up and down the beach searching mounds of sand or swim around near the coast plundering dive spots. It’s time-consuming, but not dangerous or difficult.

(1 of 2) Delve the depths of the Hawaiian Haunt to find Robo Disks,

Delve the depths of the Hawaiian Haunt to find Robo Disks, (left), which can be traded to Robo Michio for Shark Fins. (right)

  • Explore the Hawaiian Haunt and loot suitcases. The "Hawaiian Haunt" iconHawaiian Haunt is a (mostly) optional dungeon that will unlock near the end of Chapter 5, when you’re forced to complete Substory "34 - Legend of the Labyrinth" icon34 - Legend of the Labyrinth. Suitcases in this dungeon have a small chance of dropping a Shark Fin. Not the most reliable way of getting them, but if you’re exploring the dungeon (it’s a great source of EXP and cash) just keep an eye out for suitcases.

  • The Hawaiian Haunt delivers not one, but two ways of getting Shark Fins! As you explore the dungeon, you’ll find shinies on the ground, which will be either a crafting material (fragments, geodes or crystals) or a Robo Disk. Robo Disks are the “currency” of the Hawaiian Haunt, and you can also score them by defeating enemies or descending down levels. Loot, fight, advance and you’ll get Robo Disks, which can then be traded to Robo Micho for various goodies. You can trade 15,000 Robo Disks to Robo Micho for a Shark Fin.

If you aim to complete the Hawaiian Haunt, you really don’t have to worry about Shark Fins that much. There’s a good chance you’ll pull some from suitcases as you descend, and even if you don’t, you’ll accumulate plenty of Robo Disks as you delve down forty floors.
