Throughout the initial few chapters of Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth you will find yourself collecting a bunch of fragments and materials with no idea of how to use them to upgrade weapons. If, like us, you are left scratching your head, wondering what you need to do to unlock the ability to upgrade weapons, or where to go, then below you can find a full overview of everything to do with Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth weapon upgrades.
Like most things in the series, you will have to simply get to a certain point in the story to gain the ability to upgrade your gear.
How To Upgrade Weapons in Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth¶
You can upgrade weapons by gaining access to 
Julie’s Gearworks, which is located in West Waikīkī along Hula Avenue. Once you arrive you will be tasked with crafting the 
Hero’s Bat and completing Substory 20: Better Bat. Once this has been done, you can use Julie’s Gearworks to upgrade weapons at any time.
This is a mandatory location you will visit during Chapter 4: In The Ghetto. So, there is no chance of missing it - unlike some of the other chapter 4 substories in Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. Additionally, you can’t upgrade your weapons before this point in the story, so you will have to play a good 8-10 hours before you can make your first upgrade.
Julie’s Gearworks is in a pretty central location, you will visit a lot throughout the main story.
Upgrading weapons isn’t a cheap affair, however. You likely won’t be able to make any sizeable damage boosts to your party as a whole until you are about halfway through the Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth chapters. You may be able to boost the damage of one or two of your party members, however. Once you get to this point, money and materials are a lot more common or there are easier ways to earn these materials, such as through the 
Hawaiian Haunt dungeon in Hawaii.
Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth Weapon Upgrade Materials¶
There are a variety of weapon upgrade materials that can be found throughout Hawaii and Japan by looting chests, defeating enemies, and spending money at vendors.
The full list of Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth upgrade materials are:
- Iron Fragments (Common)
- Iron Chunk (Uncommon)
- Iron Ore (Rare)
- Pure Steel (Super Rare)
- Lustrous Steel (Extremely Rare)

Additionally, beyond weapon upgrade materials there are crafting materials that can be used to create brand new weapons for your party members. These are:
Beautiful Seashell- Ethereal Egesta
- Electrical Fragments
- Lava Fragments
- Ice Fragments
- Rainbow Fragments
You will need a base weapon as well to craft new ones.
