All Fish on Dondoko Island - Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

By
Jessica Dillon

Fishing on Dondoko Island is a bit different than in most cozy games. You will be throwing spears at the fish in the water, and the bigger they are, the more hits it will take to catch them. Each fish has various areas where it will appear, and it can be hard to complete your Dokopedia as some are more elusive than others. The guide below goes over how to fish, where to find all the fish, how much they sell for, and how to catch the elusive Golden Shark.

Catching all the fish on Dondoko Island requires a strategic approach.

How to Fish on Dondoko Island

When you arrive on Dondoko Island, you will be given several tools, including a spear that can be thrown at fish to catch them during a short fishing mini-game. You can catch all the fish in the area without having to exit out of the mini-game, and there is no limit to the amount of times you can use your spear. Fish spawn each day, so after you clear out a fishing spot, you will need to wait until you go to sleep to fish there some more. Fish don’t have much of a use outside of the Dondoko Scuttler being used to make a few souvenirs and are meant to be sold at the shop for Dondoko bucks.

Additionally, you will gain popularity points for catching fish. The more times you catch the same fish, the more you can increase its rank and the points you earn. You will need to go to designated fishing spots, of which there are seven. All fishing spots have a fishing sign near them, and you can see the shadow of fish swimming in the ocean. The following areas are fishing spots that you can unlock on Dondoko Island.

Fishing Area Unlock Requirement
Dondoko Beach Unlocked on Arrival
Mukku Beach Unlocked on Arrival
Dondoko Farm River Resort Rank Two
Dondoko Farm Ocean Resort Rank Two
Lake Resort Rank Three
Meadow Bridge Resort Rank Four
Forest Bridge Resort Rank Four
Forest Waterfall Resort Rank Four

Please note that the Lake fishing area is actually located on the bridge between Gachapin Beach and the Lake. The Lake itself is just a small puddle of water that you can’t fish in. Additionally, the forest unlocks two different areas, one beside the waterfall. To access it, you must climb down the ladder and swim to the small island with the deck in the middle of the water. Fishing can be a slow process, so we also urge you to upgrade your spear as soon as possible to catch fish quicker.

(1 of 3) All fishing spots are marked with a fishing sign.

You should also keep in mind that there are four different sizes of fish. The bigger the fish, the more hits with your spear it will take to catch them. The smallest fish takes one spear hit, and the extra large fish takes four hits. The only exception to this rule is the Golden Shark, which takes six hits.

All Fish on Dondoko Island

There are a total of 28 different fish to catch, some of which are area-locked or only appear in a few distinct areas. Fishing is one of the ways you can make the most Dokobucks, so you will want to get a handle on which fish are worth the most. For the most part, the bigger the fish shadow, the more they will be worth. Keep in mind that you can’t take these fish off Dondoko Island.

The table below goes over every fish on Dondoko Island, where they seem to spawn regularly, and how much they can be sold for. Despite the Aweoweo mentioning being nocturnal in its description, all the fish below can be caught at any time of the day. Keep in mind that as you catch each fish multiple times, their popularity rank will increase, which will increase the price they are bought for.

How to Catch The Golden Shark on Dondoko Island

The Golden Shark is the most elusive fish in the game and will likely be the last one you catch. Finding one is tricky, and it’s a bit unclear in terms of what it takes to spawn it. In our playthrough, the Golden Shark would not appear until we upgraded the spear all the way. The next day, the Golden Shark appeared at the Lake as an extra large fish shadow. The Golden Shark has the same circular swimming pattern as the Marlin, but when hit the first time, it will break the pattern and start erratically swimming around the ocean. It takes six hits to catch the shark and several days to see another one spawn again.
