Best Skills in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

By
Nathan Garvin

Jobs are more than a mere collection of skills, but skills are a significant component of what makes each job unique. Every job has around a dozen skills, and there are 27 jobs in the game (12 exclusive jobs, 9 jobs for any male character, 6 jobs for any female character), so there are plenty of skills. You can use all skills belonging to your active job, but you can also inherit six you’ve unlocked from other jobs. Parsing through them all can be a chore, especially since there are a lot of skills that fit similar roles. To that end, this page will help you cut through the busy work by nominating what we believe are some of the best skills to use in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Chitose has exclusive access to the Aperitifs skill, which deals a great deal of damage and removes debuffs.

Aperitifs

Aperitifs "Heiress" iconHeiress 22 45 Ally Area

One of the best healing skills in the game, and certainly the best one you’ll have access to before unlocking the "Idol" iconIdol job in Chapter 8, Aperitifs restores a great deal of HP in a massive area and removes all debuffs. On the downside, it can only be learned by "Chitose" iconChitose’s "Heiress" iconHeiress job, and it costs a hefty 45 MP, but you’re definitely getting what you pay for with this.

Beachside Bro-ffet

Skill Job Rank MP Cost Power Effect
Beachside Bro-ffet "Aquanaut" iconAquanaut 18 30 Ally Area

Healing is good. The more characters who have access to a healing spell, the better, and this is arguably the best healing spell every male character can learn. It heals for a hefty amount and has a wide AoE, and it’s only moderately spendy at 30 MP. All in all, it’s a great reason for every male character to reach Job Rank 18 as an "Aquanaut" iconAquanaut. As a bonus, you can pickup the lesser skill Beachside Bro-BQ at Aquanaut 1, which isn’t quite as potent, but it’s still a good starter heal until you reach Aquanaut 18.

Bewitching Haze has a passable AoE, dealing light magic damage and potentially blinding all afflicted foes.

Bewitching Haze

Bewitching Haze "Pyrodancer" iconPyrodancer 1 15 Light Enemy Area

A skill that can be easy to overlook, this is an AoE attack that, while dealing light damage, is fairly cheap (15 MP) and can inflict Blindness on enemies. It’s also a magic attack, meaning it can’t be avoided - it can be very useful to debuff physical attackers, or to just run into a mob, dish out some guaranteed damage, and see if any debuffs stick.

Burning Arrow is perplexingly good, being a hybrid gun/fire skill with fair AoE, high damage and a low MP cost. Every male character should learn and equip it ASAP.

Burning Arrow

Skill Job Rank MP Cost Power Effect
Burning Arrow "Samurai" iconSamurai 1 20 Heavy Enemy Area

Burning Arrow is just stupid in so many ways. You unlock it at "Samurai" iconSamurai 1, so any male character can just dip into Samurai to unlock it. This skill has a moderate range, and deals heavy gun/fire damage to all foes in said area, and it does all this for a mere 20 MP. If you want a general-purpose AoE skill that’ll get you through most of the game, capable of clearing mobs and dealing hefty damage to individuals, look no further. It should be a priority for all male characters, and honestly it can carry you through most of the game. If it has any downsides, it’s being a physical attack (meaning it can be dodged).

Flicker of Light

Flicker of Light "Kunoichi" iconKunoichi 1 15 Medium Grapple - 1 Enemy

A lesser version of the male’s Wild Lasso, the "Kunoichi" iconKunoichi has a passable grapple move which deals medium damage at an affordable 15 MP. It doesn’t inflict any debuffs, but getting the short end of the stick is just something female characters in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth apparently have to deal with.

Glory Awaits is an AoE that buffs the Attack and Critical Rate of nearby allies.

Glory Awaits

Skill Job Rank MP Cost Power Effect
Glory Awaits "Samurai" iconSamurai 12 20 Ally Area

An AoE buff that gives each character in a moderate range a stack of Attack and Critical Chance. The area could be wider, and there are going to be plenty of circumstances where you just can’t reach everybody you’d want to, but most of the time you’ll be able to maneuver around enough to buff three characters per cast. Spend a turn buffing and you’ll substantially increase your damage output. It pairs pretty well with Burning Arrow, but really benefits from having three (or more) male characters who can cast it in succession.

Ichiban’s Hero’s Healing skill scales in potency with his Kindness stat, potentially allowing it to heal for great amounts despite its rather low MP cost.

Hero’s Healing

Skill Job Rank MP Cost Power Effect
"Hero" iconHero’s Healing "Hero" iconHero 6 20 Ally Area

Exclusive to Ichiban’s "Hero" iconHero job, you’re almost certainly going to unlock this one at some point. It can’t be stressed how solid of a healing spell this is, however, as it scales with Ichiban’s Kindness stat. At max ranks Ichiban will be healing loads, and at 20 MP it’s on a discount compared to Beachside Bro-ffet. It does have worse AoE, however. For Ichiban, you might just prefer Hero’s Healing over Beachside Bro-ffet.

Female characters don’t have access to Burning Arrow, but Scattering of Flowers is a passable mob-clearing substitute.

Scattering of Flowers

Scattering of Flowers "Kunoichi" iconKunoichi 18 30 Light Enemy Area

Possibly the closest thing to Burning Arrow female characters can get access to, Scattering of Flowers is an AoE magic attack skill that deals less damage, costs more MP, and takes longer to unlock. On the other hand, it has a wider AoE and being a magic skill, it cannot be evaded. It might not be quite as good as Burning Arrow, but it fills the same role - a general purpose mob-clearer. You might want to look elsewhere for single-target damage.

Substitution Jutsu

Skill Job Rank MP Cost Power Effect
Substitution Jutsu "Kunoichi" iconKunoichi 12 25 1 Ally

For 25 MP you can end your turn and give another ally another turn. Sometimes other characters are just stronger in certain circumstances - they’re better positioned, can heal for more, have a weapon/stats that allows them to better target an enemy’s weaknesses… whatever the case, if you need an ally to take another turn more than the character with this skill, a 25 MP opportunity cost is all it takes to make it happen.

Wild Lasso breaks enemy guard, deals medium damage and can Silence enemies, all for an economic 15 MP.

Wild Lasso

Wild Lasso "Desperado" iconDesperado 1 15 Medium Grapple - 1 Enemy

It’s always good to have a grapple skill on hand, and debuff skills can be useful for neutering problem enemies. Wild Lasso combines both, deals medium damage, and only costs 15 MP, to boot. Just a good all-round attack skill for when you need to break an enemy’s guard or inflict Silence.
