How to unlock the Segway - Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth

By
Echo Apsey

Hawaii is a big place and after an hour or two on the streets of Honolulu you may be thinking “I wish I could get around a bit faster”. Sure, you can take a Taxi, but what if you wanted to see the sights on the streets? Maybe you want to make some friends and add to your Aloha Links collection while you travel to your waypoint. Well to get around and see all Hawaii has to offer, you will need to know how to unlock the Segway in Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth.

Thankfully, you won’t have to work too hard to get it and it can actually be unlocked almost as soon as you have completed the first part of Chapter 3.

How to Unlock the Segway in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

To get the segway (Street Surfer) you need to complete Substory 6: Surfin’ The Streets, which is located at the southern end of Seaside Avenue in West Waikīkī. Oka, the man who will push you to test out the segway is just on the street corner to the right, as you leave "Kiryu" iconKiryu’s hotel. Simply talk to him to begin the side quest.

You can start the substory once you are able to explore Hawaii in Chapter 3.

In the Substory, you will need to perform a few basic maneuvers like riding towards Oka, and then beating up a few thugs who tried to trash his Street Surfer. Once you have finished the fight, he will give you a free membership to the service, so you can use the Oka Charging Stations scattered around Hawaii to recharge the battery on the Street Surfer and change the body and vehicle color.

Street Surfer customization item locations can be found throughout Hawaii, in briefcases or alleys. A few are also purchasable at vendors across the Hawaii map.

Oka’s journey back doesn’t quite go as smoothly as Ichiban’s

At its base level, a Small Charge for the Street Surfer will set you back $30.00, with a Half Charge setting you back $55.00. However, a full charge costs a whopping $100.00, which is a lot of money early in the game. As such, you don’t want to be using your Street Surfer too often, until some better ways to earn money fast become available in later chapters.

There are a good handful of charging locations scattered throughout Hawaii and they are denoted by the small Street Surfer icon on the map.

The easiest to find charging station is just north of where you met Oka.

With that, you can begin jetting off around the map, progressing through the main story, leveling up, and unlocking the Sujimon League and Dondoko Island which will be some of your next main side-activity goals.
